The position of Support Staff plays a vital role in the support services provided to each person. The In-Home Care Specialist provides continuous and active involvement, which includes an assertive and consistent implementation of an Individuals Service Plan, based on each person's strengths and needs. The In-Home Care Specialist is accountable and responsible for the direct supervision and teaching- and "hands on" assisting with each person served, including but not limited to, the following areas: homemaker & personal care services, health & medical care, dietary & special menu orders, independent living skill development, vocational and community employment interests, adaptive equipment and assistance supplies/items, mobility and safety awareness, transportation, socialization & leisure skills. The Direct Support Staff is required to function as a team member with co-workers, the interdisciplinary team, and staff associates in an accountable and professional manner. The In-Home Care Specialist will be expected to implement all job requirements in the home and/or community setting.
POSITION'S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Safely provide transportation as needed.
  • Insure all safety equipment is in good working order
  • Responsible for Individual supervision/support
  • Responsible for documentation, including but not limited to, transportation, billing and program documentation.
  • Contributes to and attends regular staff meetings.
  • Promotes a supportive environment by modeling the guidelines of company philosophy, confidentiality, people-first language, empowerment, and fair and reasonable treatment of others.

Other:
  • Maintain current certification in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Behavior Support Plan, and any other required training.
  • Participated in personal and professional self-development to maintain or enhance work skills that allow for completion of job responsibilities.
  • Other related duties, as requested or necessary.

  • Must successfully pass the DOT physical.
  • Minimum of High School diploma or GED.
  • Current Ohio Drivers License with acceptable driving record is required
  • Criminal Background verification, with acceptable clearance according to applicable rules and requirements. Driving history must meet insurance carrier requirements.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule and provide responsible supervision and assistance to adults with Developmental Disabilities.
  • Ability to work as a team member and communicate in a positive and effective manner with persons served, support staff, and others.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals
  • Maintains current and annual training requirements
  • Must have at least one (1) year of healthcare experience or working with disabilities individuals.
