What is professional fencing?

Professional fencing is a competitive sport in which athletes, known as fencers, use swords such as the foil, épée, or sabre to score points by making contact with their opponent in a regulated environment. Matches are governed by strict rules regarding technique, target areas, and equipment to ensure safety and fairness. Fencing requires agility, strategy, and quick reflexes, and competitions range from local tournaments to international events like the Olympics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a professional fencer?

To thrive as a Professional Fencer, you need exceptional physical fitness, technical proficiency in fencing techniques, and often formal training or certification from recognized fencing academies. Familiarity with competition rules, electronic scoring systems, and specialized fencing equipment is essential. Mental agility, discipline, and strategic decision-making set outstanding fencers apart in high-pressure bouts. These skills and qualities are crucial for achieving consistent performance, adapting to opponents, and succeeding in national and international competitions.

What are some common challenges faced by professional fencing coaches, and how can they be addressed?

Professional fencing coaches often encounter challenges such as adapting training techniques to suit individuals with varying skill levels, keeping students motivated during demanding practice sessions, and staying updated with evolving competition rules. To address these challenges, coaches frequently participate in continuous education, attend coaching clinics, and foster open communication with their athletes. Building a supportive team environment and personalizing training plans are also effective strategies for overcoming these obstacles.

Key responsibilities

  • Take accurate measurements, interpret construction plans, and prepare estimates and proposals.

  • Communicate with customers, contractors, and project teams to ensure proper project understanding and follow-up to close sales.

Job description

Company Description

A1 Fence LV is Las Vegas’ premier fence contractor, specializing in high-quality commercial and residential fencing solutions. The company provides installation, maintenance, and repair services for a wide range of fence types designed to enhance both security and visual appeal. Serving Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, and surrounding communities, A1 Fence LV is known for quality materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and responsive customer service. The team focuses on delivering durable, stylish, and customized fencing that meets the unique needs of each client. Applicants can expect to join a company committed to professionalism and a seamless customer experience.

Role Description

We are seeking someone who understands the fencing and/or construction industry, is confident working directly with customers and contractors, and can take a project from the initial site visit through measurements, estimating, and closing the sale.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious sales professional who is detail-oriented, organized, customer-focused, and motivated by growth and earning potential.

What You'll Do
  • Visit residential and commercial customers, construction sites, and project locations throughout the Las Vegas area
  • Meet with customers to understand their fencing and gate needs
  • Take accurate field measurements and document site conditions
  • Recommend fencing solutions based on the customer's needs, project requirements, and budget
  • Prepare accurate estimates and proposals
  • Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and project documents
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners, contractors, project managers, and other customers
  • Follow up on estimates and opportunities to help close sales
  • Maintain accurate customer, project, and estimating information
  • Work with our office, project management, and field teams to ensure projects are properly communicated and handed off
  • Provide excellent customer service from the initial appointment through the sales process

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in fencing, construction, construction sales, estimating, or a related field
  • Valid driver's license and clean/reliable driving record
  • Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and plans
  • Strong measuring and basic estimating skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Comfortable using computers, email, estimating software, and other basic business technology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates and customer opportunities
  • Motivated, ambitious, dependable, and eager to grow

Fencing industry experience is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package designed to reward performance and growth:

  • Base pay + commission
  • Sales commission earning opportunities
  • Company-provided sales vehicle
  • Company-provided cell phone for work use
  • Medical insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Opportunity to grow with an established and expanding fencing company
Who We're Looking For

We're not looking for someone who simply wants to take measurements and send estimates.

We're looking for a sales-minded construction professional who takes ownership of their opportunities, follows up with customers, pays attention to the details, and is motivated to close business.

The right candidate is comfortable both in the field and behind a computer. You should be able to walk a job site, understand what the customer is asking for, accurately measure the project, review plans when necessary, build an estimate, communicate the value of our work, and confidently ask for the sale.

If you have experience in fence sales, construction sales, outside sales, construction estimating, blueprint reading, commercial construction, residential construction, gates, or related trades, we want to hear from you.

Apply today to join A1 Fence and Gate Repair LLC and grow with our team.
