Job description

Job Summary:
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. They are seeking a Data Engineer who will architect and maintain the enterprise data infrastructure while developing ETL pipelines and overseeing compliance with research protocols.
Responsibilities:
• Architect and sustain the Office of Medical Education’s enterprise data infrastructure.
• Migrate current rudimentary processes (AppScript/Google Sheets) to a scalable cloud-based lakehouse (e.g., BigQuery) to resolve critical data capacity limits.
• Develop and maintain ETL pipelines within Google Cloud to ingest and unify data from disparate sources (SIS, Canvas LMS, Learning Space, and future-state MHS GENESIS metadata).
• Oversee data management, programming, processes, and data analysis activities for research protocols, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), sponsor, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead delivery of reporting and analytical solutions to stakeholders, supporting high-volume learning analytics, Accreditation QA/QI, and Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME).
• Develop future-state AI integrations using Learning Space and Gemini APIs for automated learner feedback.
• Manage and mentor technical staff.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with research, technical, clinical, and development teams to leverage technical and scientific information.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum of 9-10 years experience required.
• Knowledge of relevant programming language(s) (e.g., Python, SQL, Apps Script).
• Technical expertise in building cloud-based ETL pipelines and managing API integrations.
• Experience in handling large data sets and awareness of data quality issues.
• Familiarity with clinical data management systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and direct the work of others.
• Possess problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• May require U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3 Secret clearance.
• Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer Certification.

• Master's Degree
