What does a professional cleaner do?

A professional cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in homes, offices, or commercial spaces. Their tasks typically include dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, sanitizing bathrooms, cleaning kitchens, and sometimes handling specialized cleaning equipment. They may also follow specific instructions from clients regarding areas that need extra attention. Professional cleaners ensure that environments are neat, safe, and presentable, contributing to the overall comfort and well-being of occupants.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a professional cleaner?

To excel as a Professional Cleaner, you need attention to detail, knowledge of cleaning techniques, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment, various cleaning agents, and safety protocols is typically required. Strong time management, reliability, and good communication skills help cleaners exceed client expectations and work efficiently in teams or independently. These skills ensure thorough, safe, and consistent cleaning results, which are essential for client satisfaction and maintaining hygienic environments.

What are some common challenges faced by professional cleaners, and how can they be managed?

Professional cleaners often encounter challenges such as managing tight schedules, handling difficult stains or specialized cleaning tasks, and adapting to different client preferences. Effective time management and clear communication with clients or supervisors can help address these issues. Many employers provide training on proper techniques and safety protocols, ensuring cleaners can work efficiently and confidently in a variety of environments, from offices to private homes. Building strong teamwork skills also helps when working alongside other staff members, especially in larger facilities.

Our Mission is to protect customer’s homes, families and businesses by delivering safe, convenient and reliable pest control solutions. We are committed to customer service and growth while maintaining a culture that makes our employees proud to work at Rocket.

Our Position

Are you a consultative closer who loves getting out in the field, meeting homeowners face-to-face, and turning opportunities into long-term customer relationships? We’re hiring an Outside Sales Professional to own a designated territory—responding to leads, performing home and property inspections, building tailored proposals, and delivering value-driven solutions that help customers protect and improve their homes.

What You Will Do

  • Manage a designated territory and execute a sales plan to generate, follow up on, and close new business.

  • Upsell existing customers on additional services while building trust and long-term relationships.
  • Network in the community and participate in local/industry activities to expand your presence and pipeline.
  • Stay current on contract terms, conditions, and competitive offerings; attend sales meetings and ongoing training.
  • Maintain a clean, professional customer experience—protecting the home and leaving the work area in equal or better condition.

  • Requirements: Valid driver’s license, at least 18 years old, able to work Saturdays, and able to meet screening requirements (background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record check).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is performed primarily outdoors and in customer homes and may involve changing weather conditions and elevated noise levels. You must be able to safely use a ladder, lift 20 lbs. or more, and regularly perform activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching. The position also requires the ability to work in confined spaces (including crawlspaces and attics) and to properly wear required PPE, including an OSHA-compliant respirator.
