Job description

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that products and processes consistently meet established quality and regulatory standards within the nutraceutical industry. This hands-on leadership role oversees and supports a team of Quality Control Analysts by communicating expectations, prioritizing tasks, training employees on quality standards, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety procedures. The Quality Supervisor develops and maintains QA programs, oversees inspection and testing activities for raw materials and finished products, and reports quality metrics to management. Candidates should maintain current knowledge of industry testing practices and regulatory requirements. Microbiological testing experience is preferred, including the ability to review, approve, and potentially perform microbiological testing in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and support quality policies and implement guidelines to ensure compliance with quality standards and documents.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve SOPs, testing methods, and quality procedures to support compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain QA programs.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities by identifying root causes, implementing sustainable solutions, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Perform, review, approve, and support microbiological testing activities in accordance with company procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise product testing to ensure procedure accuracy.
  • Conducting or reviewing monthly internal audits, commensurate with production schedules.
  • Lead the onboarding, training, coaching, and professional development of Quality team members to promote accountability, efficiency, and leadership growth.
  • Mentor and support employees in understanding quality systems, regulatory requirements, certifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Production leadership and operators to provide guidance on quality standards, compliance expectations, and best practices.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment that encourages accountability, collaboration, and leadership development.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively while fostering ownership, accountability, and timely completion of departmental projects and objectives.
  • Prioritize departmental activities and optimize team resources to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall quality performance.
  • Proactively identify quality challenges and develop innovative solutions to improve efficiency, compliance, and product quality.
  • Assess production process issues and recommend improvements.
  • Promote Lean, continuous improvement, and problem-solving initiatives across the Quality department.
  • Evaluate and recommend alternative auditing procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Develop monthly reports that show inspection and audit performance and highlight opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommend manufacturing or technology aids to increase speed and efficiency.

Requirements
  • Training in Quality Systems.
  • Minimum 3 years in a cGMP industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of lab testing and lab testing methods.
  • Internal auditing and cGMP compliance
  • Strong knowledge of 21 CFR 111 and auditing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate with team members and stakeholders
  • Proven track record of overachieving goals or going above and beyond
  • Possess a willingness to learn
  • Working knowledge of the CAPA process
  • Actively embraces healthy living
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the Document Control process and procedures
  • Experience with microbiological testing methods and procedures, including the use and interpretation of 3M Petrifilm testing for environmental monitoring, raw materials, and finished product analysis, is preferred.
