The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

Cardinal Ritter College Prep is seeking dependable, safety-conscious, and student-centered Bus Drivers to provide safe and reliable transportation for students to and from school, athletic events, field trips, academic competitions, and other school-sponsored activities. The Bus Driver serves as a representative of the school and is responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive transportation experience of all student passengers. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, strong communication skills, and a commitment to supporting the mission and values of Cardinal Ritter College Prep.

Job Responsibilities
  • Safely transport students to and from assigned destinations according to established schedules.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly bus environment.
  • Monitor student behavior and enforce school transportation policies and safety procedures.
  • Assist students with safe boarding and exiting of the bus.
  • Comply with all Missouri Department of Transportation, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and school transportation regulations.
  • Report accidents, vehicle concerns, maintenance issues, emergencies, and student incidents promptly to appropriate school personnel.
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and trip documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents, coaches, faculty, and administrators.
  • Provide transportation for athletic teams, academic groups, and school-sponsored events, including evening and weekend assignments as needed.
  • Fuel buses and report maintenance needs in a timely manner.
  • Attend required training sessions, safety meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform additional transportation-related duties as assigned.
  • Support the mission, values, and expectations of Cardinal Ritter College Prep while serving as a positive role model for students.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Missouri Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • Current Missouri School Bus Permit.
  • Current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Clean driving record and acceptable motor vehicle history.
  • Ability to pass required background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening, and other pre-employment requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all certifications required by state and federal regulations.
  • Previous school bus driving experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong commitment to student safety and customer service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergencies.
  • Knowledge of defensive driving practices and applicable traffic laws.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional with the ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including operating a commercial vehicle, assisting with emergency evacuations, and lifting up to 50 pounds when necessary.
