Founded in 1980, the Boston Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Youth (BAGLY) is an organization led by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth to meet the core physical, social, and developmental needs of Greater Boston's LGBTQ+ youth community. Today, BAGLY provides community-based leadership development, health promotion, and social support programs for Massachusetts' LGBTQ youth communities, and is a leader in local and national LGBTQ+ youth advocacy.

About This Position

The ASE Health & Wellness Educator, reporting directly to the Health & Wellness Program Manager, plays a critical role in the seamless delivery of program services, ensuring alignment with Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) expectations while centering and advancing the needs of youth. The ASE Health Educator will lead the comprehensive development and delivery of the "Our Care in Action" Adolescent Sexuality Education Program, working collaboratively with staff, youth leaders, families, and community partners.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Program Facilitation: Act as the first point of contact for participants in the program, and meet with participants as needed to deliver the selected curriculum.
• Outreach: Support recruitment of program participants, assist with program registration and intake processes, and serve as a liaison to community resources. The Health Educator will also support family engagement efforts, including helping families navigate systems of care as needed.
• Supportive Referrals: Work in close collaboration with BAGLY program staff and community-based partner organizations to strengthen a coordinated, youth-centered network of care that supports the goals of the ASE program, ensuring timely and equitable referrals and linkages to essential resources such as pregnancy care, reproductive health services & mental health supports for cohort participants.
• Data Collection: Support data reporting requirements, including monthly programmatic data submissions, and quarterly and annual reports to DPH, in collaboration with the Health and Wellness Program Manager.
• Collaborative Network Building: Work closely with community-based organizations throughout program implementation to build and sustain a robust network of partners that supports the goals of the ASE program, fostering the expansion of high-quality,culturally responsive adolescent sexuality education across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Communication: Maintain regular communication with the Health and Wellness Program Manager in order to share up-to-date information about progress, service delivery, & program feedback.
• Health & Wellness Programming: Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education opportunities related to adolescent sexual health, infectious disease prevention and treatment, trauma-informed care, and LGBTQ+ affirming practices in order to strengthen professional knowledge and enhance the quality of reproductive health education across all of BAGLY's service areas.
• Peer Health Educators Supervision: Provide supervision, mentoring, and support to part-time Peer Health Educators to ensure high-quality program delivery and youth engagement.
  

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years work experience in providing reproductive health education and/or
  care to adolescents and young adults.
• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of and commitment to BAGLY's mission and values, including an
  understanding of youth development, social justice, and models of oppression.
• Experience in community-based public health service delivery and data
  collection.
• Experience addressing the current and emerging needs of LGBTQ+ youth, with particular
  focus on BIPOC and/or transgender/nonbinary youth.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
• Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds .
• Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills .
• Excellent time management and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to
  anticipate and proactively address challenges.
• Professional maturity, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous quality improvement
• Demonstrated computer skills (Mac OSX, Google Workspace, Microsoft Outlook, Excel,
  and Word).

Advanced Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience implementing Adolescent Sexuality Education (ASE) or similar
  youth-centered sexual and reproductive health programs.
• Experience adapting and delivering evidence-based sexuality education curricula for
  diverse youth populations.
• Experience building and maintaining partnerships with community-based organizations
  to expand ASE programming.
• Strong skills in youth engagement, facilitation, and participatory program design.
• Experience supporting youth leadership or peer education models in health or wellness
  programming.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizations to coordinate program delivery
  and shared learning.
• Experience collecting and using program data to improve ASE implementation and
  quality.
• Ability to work effectively in community-based settings such as schools, youth programs,
  shelters, and CBOs.
• Experience communicating about sexual and reproductive health in culturally responsive
  and developmentally appropriate ways.
• Strong interest in advancing equitable access to comprehensive sexuality education for
  LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and other historically marginalized youth.

The current expectation is that this position will operate on-site out of BAGLY's office in downtown Boston, MA. This position will include travel inside the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and will include nights and occasional weekends.

The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check (CORI/SORI) as a condition of employment at BAGLY.

This position has the following physical requirements (with or without reasonable accommodations):

• Sit at a computer station for extended periods of time
• Ability to keyboard for extended periods of time
• Requires handling average-weight objects up to 15-20 pounds, and occasionally assisting
  patients
• Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations
  that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective
  equipment
• Ability to travel to community-based organizations and venues such as schools, youth &
  family shelters, community centers, etc. to perform outreach activities.

Starting Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000

The starting salary is determined based on how many qualifications are demonstrated.
