Job description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of the production area during the assigned shift. This position provides direct supervision of the manufacturing teams while serving as the technical leader for production processes. The role is also responsible for process optimization, troubleshooting, training, standardization of operating practices as well as ensuring production objectives related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost are achieved

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to: 

  • Ensures the Safety requirements and controls are respected and executed at their shift
  • Partners with the EHS Team in order to ensuring that team members follow company health, safety and environmental policies. 
  • Ensures team members follow proper use of PPE and safe work practices.
  • Provides motivation, support, and guidance to all team members. 
  • Communicates goals set by senior management and provides guidance and tools to execute the manufacturing activities and tasks.
  • Coaches, mentors, and motivates team members to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure the assigned production team understand our process standards and work instructions
  • Leads shift activities, including safety, quality, and manufacturing processes.
  • Reports all non-conformances related to safety, quality and manufacturing processes and starts the corrective action process. 
  • Responsible for the shift Performance ( OEE, Scrap, Downtime, etc.)
  • Conducts pre-op meetings including safety and reviews the daily manufacturing goals for the entire manufacturing teams.
  • Effectively manages personal workload and priorities to ensure timely completion of supervisory responsibilities, reporting, and production objectives
  • Ensures the Quality Plan is executed accurately and effectively during the shift 
  • Performs changeover and start up on extrusion lines 
  • Sets the extrusion line to achieve quality and performance objectives
  • Troubleshoots production process and support systems issues. 
  • Implement corrective actions to minimize process variation and product defects.
  • Completes the necessary manufacturing records for the shift
  • Identifies opportunities for productivity, quality, and cost improvements.
  • Collaborates with manufacturing peers and other departments.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or three years plant/general leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of leadership experience in an Industrial / manufacturing environment
  • Experience in plastics industry is desirable but not required
