Job description

This 2nd Shift role will run 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
  • Directly supervise and drive production employees in assigned value stream which requires people management in the areas of performance management, time and attendance, reviewing and submitting employee time for payroll, mentoring and developing, motivating and recognizing individuals for exceptional work, and ongoing discipline when necessary.
  • Lead the day-to-day production activities within the value stream by assigning tasks and managing shift staffing to meet production goals to include managing attendance and scheduling to ensure that current commitments are achieved while improvements are made.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor production line workers to ensure efficiency and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Plan and lead daily performance operations through the use of Plant MDI boards and reporting daily.
  • Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and attendance logs. Support inventory control through accurate reporting of material usage and scrap.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture by finding ways to eliminate waste by applying lean methodology, involving employees in problem-solving and decision-making, and cross-functional partnerships.
  • Be highly visible to team members and build a culture to encourage participation and promote hands-on, high-involvement approaches to problem-solving.
  • Move about within the plant in the facilitation of work teams, problem-solving, and communication with employees and management.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment for all employees, emphasizing prevention of potential problems and hazardous conditions, and support nVent's safety programs.
  • This role requires flexibility to support a manufacturing environment, including working weekends, holidays, and occasional extended shifts based on production needs.

YOU HAVE:
  • Academic background in Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science preferred.
  • Previous experience in or with:
    • Ideally 3+ years of manufacturing experience, with a preference for manufacturing leadership experience.
    • Experienced with manufacturing ERP systems and understanding of SQDCC.
    • Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
    • Knowledge of process improvement concepts and methods along with the flexibility and adaptability to accept, support, and deploy new processes in a changing business environment.
  • Skills:
    • Analytical thinking and problem-solving
    • Conflict resolution includes the ability to address differences of opinions or facts and use the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution.
    • Effective communication at both technical and leadership levels. Must include good interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to understand information and ideas as presented.
    • Project Management and Organization
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Windows, and PowerPoint.
  • Abilities to meet the physical and environmental demands:
    • Ability to adapt rapidly to changes and function in a high-stress, high-pressure environment with a positive attitude. Be able to be successful in constantly evolving business environment.
    • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize time/workload and delegate work in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners.
    • Ability to effectively mentor and foster staff growth and development.
    • Ability to evaluate and motivate personnel.
