Job Overview:

Monitors the factory'sperformance, manage & allocate manpower and strengthen and develop theorganization's production & planning structure. Develops, implants, andimproves complex manufacturing production processes and methods.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Develops bestpractices to improve production capacity, quality and reliability
  • Manage theimplementation of continuous improvement processes for efficiency to create aLean Manufacturing environment.
  • Ensuresimplementation and execution of problem solving of quality issues producedwithin the body shop
  • Assessesunusual circumstances, suggests variations in approaches due to incomplete orconflicting data
  • Initiates andsupports with concepts and defines actions to improve production quality and orprocesses
  • Investigatesproblems, analyzes root causes and derives resolutions. Will use 8D ProblemSolving Process to ensure sustainable quality products.
  • Developsoperational strategies to achieve production and quality objectives
  • Assures productand process quality by designing complex testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirmingmanufacturing processes
  • Utilize systemanalysis of production methods/procedures and process automations for continuedgrowth improvements.
  • Performs avariety of complicated tasks relying on experience and judgment to plan andaccomplish goals
  • Evaluatescurrent production activities and drives improvements
  • Periodicallyensures that highly technical equipment meets required specifications and highquality standards
  • Implements costreduction initiatives while maintaining high quality standards
  • Contributes toproduct and process quality design testing methods
  • Developsplanning standards, methods, and procedures
  • Stays currentwith product specifications, engineering technology and production processes
  • Providesguidance to team members to accomplish production goals; Mentors and providesguidance to less senior manufacturing engineers for skill/knowledge basedevelopment. Motivate, develop, direct and influence team members at all levelsand cultural backgrounds of the organization.
  • Participates inregularly scheduled team meetings
  • Will performother duties as assigned

  • Bachelor'sDegree in Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or other relevant degreerequired*.
  • Over 5 years ofrelevant experience required, strongly preferring Body in White
  • 3D-CADexperience such as; Inventor, SolidWorks, Catia, Siemens NX, ect.
  • *6 years ofrelevant experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Knowledge of qualitysensors including destructive testing and geometric technologies.           
  • Knowledge inthe application of complex quality methods.
  • Strong dataprocessing skills.
  • Knowledge ofmanufacturing methods/procedures and process technology.
  • Ability topresent complex technical information related to achieving goals of thedepartment.
  • Able toinfluence team members at all levels of the organization
  • Proven writtenand verbal communication at all levels within the organization with goodnegotiation skills.
  • Able toanticipate needs and deliver timely, relevant solutions and actions.
  • Knowledge ofvalue stream mapping to reduce waste and improve output in a productionenvironment is desired.
  • Experience indimensional accuracy desired.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that produces Sprintervans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz andFreightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled atthis location.

 

Mercedes-BenzVans, LLC invested 500 million U.S. dollars in the construction of a newSprinter production plant in addition to an expansion of the previous assemblyoperations. In September 2018, MBV officially opened its new plant, locatednext to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility willprovide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade and is expected to create atleast 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers.

 

Morethan 130,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered todestinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest marketfor Sprinter vans, after Germany.
