About the role
The ideal Color & Print Assistant is a fast learner, self-driven individual who is passionate about color and the technicalities of the printing process. They will assist the Print & Color Manager with developing seasonal palettes and communicating with suppliers to ensure that both color and print are executed in accordance with original intent. They must have a keen eye for detail and outstanding organization skills.
The impact you can have
Color Development Responsibilities:
  • Assess lab dips and communicate color comments to our fabric mills
  • Match seasonal inspiration to Pantone numbers and other corporate color standards
  • Match color for printer using Ned Graphics software
  • Name and number all new color standards
  • Upload seasonal colors into corporate PLM system
  • Make physical palettes as well as digital palettes
  • Responsible for updating shared documents with recent changes in palettes
  • Order ribbons for palettes and build boards for presentation
  • Keep color library clean and replenished
  • Ensure that art has correct color info before going into production
  • Organize and file back inspirational swatches after the conclusion of each season

Print Production Responsibilities:
  • Assess strike offs and communicate color and printing comments to our fabric mills
  • Attend weekly CFT meetings to align with cross-functional partners on print development needs
  • Prepare and submit art and color packages via email, web upload and shipping
  • Maintain a current and organized print chart with details and status of all developments
  • Upload seasonal pattern jpegs into corporate PLM system
  • Communicate daily with overseas suppliers, cross-functional teams and mills on execution of print color/layout/technique
  • Execute tasks in accordance with calendar milestones and provide timely/creative solutions for urgent issues
  • Keep workload organized and moving forward as milestones for multiple seasons occur simultaneously
  • Maintain print development archives (storing sample yardage, archiving binders of approvals)

You'll bring to the role
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Superior score on Farnsworth-Munsell color test
  • 1-3 years of experience in product development or related field
  • Highly organized - must have the ability to keep information organized and up-to-date in a fast paced environment
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and divisions
  • Knowledge of print methods and process, repeat sizes and general fabric limitations are a plus but not required
  • General expertise of fabric constructions/fibers and how each takes print is a plus but not required

  • Hybrid: This position works in a hybrid model, with required days worked in the Ann Taylor office location in New York, NY as defined by business needs.
