What is a production packing job?

Production packing jobs involve preparing products for shipment by assembling, packaging, labeling, and inspecting goods in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Workers in these roles ensure that items are correctly packed to prevent damage during transport and meet quality standards. The tasks may include operating packaging machines, maintaining clean work areas, and following safety procedures. These positions are essential for efficient supply chain operations and timely delivery of products to customers.

What skills and qualifications are needed for a production packing job?

To thrive as a Production Packing Worker, you need attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow safety and quality standards, often requiring a high school diploma or equivalent. Job description

Now Hiring: General Production/Packing Associate — Gold Coast Bakery
21160 Califa Street, Woodland Hills, CA 91367
$17.87–$18.00/hr + benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, PTO, Retirement)

Before you apply, make sure you can do the following. If you can't, please don't apply:

  • You can work a flexible schedule — your shift/days may change based on business needs
  • You can work in a hot bakery environment (no climate control — heat, humidity, noise)
  • You can do repetitive work (same hand/arm motions over and over, at line speed)
  • You can stand for 10–12 hour shifts
  • You're okay with pay starting at minimum wage ($17.87–$18.00/hr)

If you're good with all of that, here's what the job involves:

This role is a General Production/Packing Associate working directly on the line — handling raw dough and ingredients, running mixers and dividers, operating moulders and panning equipment, working the oven/proofer line, depanning hot product, and packing/packaging finished goods. You'll be cross-trained across mixing/make-up, oven/baking, and packing, and assigned to whichever line or station needs coverage that shift.

What you'll do:

  • Run assigned production duties (mixing, dividing, moulding, panning, oven/proofer, depanning, or packing lines)
  • Follow schedules, formula cards, and order sheets for correct rates, temps, weights, and counts
  • Operate equipment (mixers, dividers, moulders, ovens, baggers, slicers) after training
  • Check product quality and report issues to your Foreperson/Supervisor
  • Keep accurate production records
  • Keep your area clean and follow GMPs
  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs, push/pull carts and racks, bend/reach/twist as needed

What we're looking for:

  • Willing to learn and work safely in a fast-paced bakery environment
  • Can follow written/verbal instructions
  • Basic math skills
  • Team player
  • Prior bakery/food/warehouse experience is a plus but not required — we train
  • Willing to wear required PPE (smock, hard hat, slip-resistant shoes) and follow safety rules

Schedule: Full-time, hours vary by department/shift
Candidates within 10 miles preferred
