Job description

Gain Real-World Experience in Event Sales, Marketing & Events

VEGAs Event Group is looking for a motivated, creative, and outgoing Sales & Marketing Operations Intern who wants hands-on experience in marketing, sales, networking, client communication, and business operations.

This is not an internship where youโ€™ll spend six months watching from the sidelines.

Youโ€™ll work directly with our team and gain practical experience helping market an established event production and entertainment company, supporting incoming sales opportunities, creating content, communicating with clients, attending networking events, and helping keep our sales and marketing operations organized.

If you're studying marketing, business, communications, hospitality, event management, or a related field โ€” and you want an internship where you can actually build your resume, portfolio, and professional network โ€” weโ€™d love to meet you.

What Youโ€™ll Be Doing

Responsibilities may include:

  • Creating graphics, flyers, presentations, and marketing materials using Canva
  • Assisting with social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Helping develop event recaps, photos, videos, and promotional content
  • Supporting email marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives
  • Assisting with basic website and marketing content updates
  • Monitoring incoming sales inquiries and helping coordinate follow-up
  • Supporting initial client communication and sales correspondence
  • Updating leads, contacts, opportunities, and information in our CRM
  • Researching venues, event planners, companies, and potential business opportunities
  • Organizing company photos, videos, testimonials, presentations, and brand assets
  • Assisting with client guides, sales presentations, service information, and promotional materials
  • Providing general office and administrative support as needed
  • Assisting with phone coverage and professional client communication
  • Attending local networking events, venue showcases, industry meetings, and company events
  • Representing VEGAs Event Group professionally within the San Antonio events community

Because we are an event company, youโ€™ll also have opportunities to experience live events behind the scenes and learn how sales, marketing, production, entertainment, and client service work together.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Marketing, Business, Communications, Hospitality, Event Management, or a related field
  • Creative and comfortable using Canva or similar design platforms
  • Interested in social media, sales, marketing, events, and business development
  • Comfortable speaking with clients, vendors, and industry professionals
  • Professional and confident when meeting new people
  • Willing to attend networking events and represent the company
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects
  • Reliable and able to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable learning new software and technology
  • Able to work independently while also collaborating with a team
  • Willing to learn, take initiative, and contribute ideas

Experience with Canva, social media management, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, CRM systems, photography, video content, sales, or digital marketing is a plus, but not required.

We are looking for someone with the right attitude, professionalism, communication skills, and willingness to learn.

What Youโ€™ll Gain

This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience that can be used after graduation.

Youโ€™ll gain exposure to:

  • Social media marketing
  • Graphic design and Canva
  • Sales and lead management
  • CRM systems
  • Client communication
  • Business development
  • Event marketing
  • Professional networking
  • Email marketing
  • Content creation
  • Event industry operations
  • Small-business growth and entrepreneurship

Youโ€™ll also have opportunities to contribute to real marketing projects and build work that can be included in your professional portfolio.

Schedule

This is a part-time, six-month paid internship averaging approximately 20โ€“25 hours per week.

Some scheduling flexibility may be available around school commitments; however, candidates must be able to maintain consistent weekly availability.

Occasional evening networking events, company events, venue showcases, or industry functions may be part of the internship experience.

Compensation

Pay Range: $16.00โ€“$18.00 per hour

Starting compensation will be based on experience, skills, communication ability, and demonstrated qualifications.

Candidates with relevant experience in areas such as Canva, social media, content creation, CRM systems, sales, marketing, or the events industry may qualify toward the higher end of the range.

A 90-day performance review will be conducted to evaluate progress, performance, responsibilities, and overall contribution. Compensation adjustments may be considered based on performance and business needs.

Is This Internship Right for You?

This may be a great fit if youโ€™re looking for more than just something to put on your resume.

We want someone who wants to understand how marketing, sales, relationships, branding, networking, and live events all work together inside a growing business.

Youโ€™ll have opportunities to:

  • Work on real projects
  • Contribute new ideas
  • Build professional skills
  • Meet professionals in the San Antonio event industry
  • Attend networking opportunities
  • Gain client-facing experience
  • Develop a stronger professional portfolio
  • Learn how a growing small business operates

This role is best suited for someone who is comfortable interacting with people. While there are creative and administrative responsibilities, this is not a behind-the-scenes-only marketing position. Client communication, professional networking, and relationship building are important parts of the internship.
