Sterling Engineering is partnering with a manufacturing company in the Des Plaines area to hire a Tool Room Manager(injection mold)
This leadership role will oversee manufacturing engineering, tool room operations, maintenance support, and tooling/project cost analysis within an injection molding environment.

Title: Tool Room Manager(injection mold)
Location: Des Plaines, IL 60016
Salary: $110,000–$125,000 + 5% Bonus
Hours: 1st Shift | Standard Office Hours
Hire Type: Direct Hire

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily operations of the tool room and maintenance departments within an injection molding environment
  • Manage and support a team of 6 employees including engineering, maintenance, and tool room personnel
  • Develop costing for new tools, products, and materials
  • Support process improvements, manufacturing efficiencies, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate tooling repairs, preventative maintenance, and production support activities
  • Work cross functionally with production, quality, and leadership teams to support operational goals
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing and tooling related issues
  • Support capital equipment and tooling projects as needed

Qualifications:
  • Must have 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience within an injection molding environment
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience managing engineering, maintenance, or tool room personnel

  • Experience developing tooling, product, and material cost estimates
  • Hands on manufacturing background with strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
