What does a production maintenance manager do?

A Production Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery in manufacturing facilities to ensure maximum production efficiency and minimal downtime. They develop maintenance schedules, manage a team of technicians, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Additionally, they may be responsible for budgeting, ordering parts, and implementing preventive maintenance programs. Their role is key in keeping production lines running smoothly and reducing costly interruptions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a production maintenance manager?

To thrive as a Production Maintenance Manager, you need strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, experience in industrial maintenance, and typically a degree in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preventive maintenance practices, and certifications like CMRP are highly valued.
