Job description

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Machine Operator in our Carpet Cushion Department, at our Richmond Plant location (2400 Richmond Highway, Richmond VA 23234). This position will work on a team at the Carpet Cushion Production Line. This position will operate and monitor industrial machinery to produce high-quality carpet padding according to specifications. 

This position is Monday through Friday, 1st Shift (6:00am to 2:30pm). Additionally, in order to meet production needs, all employees in our manufacturing industry are expected to work more than 8-hour shifts and on weekends (if needed).

Compensation for this position is $24.99 per hour. This amount increases at 3 months totaling to $27.22 per hour

Essential Functions

  1. Set up, operate, and monitor industrial carpet cushion line machinery and equipment
  2. Adjust machine settings to meet product specifications and production requirements
  3. Inspect finished products for quality and report defects or inconsistencies
  4. Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on equipment
  5. Maintain accurate production records and logs
  6. Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
  7. Meet production targets and deadlines
  8. Communicate issues or equipment malfunctions to team and Supervisor
  9. Must successfully be forklift certified.
  10. Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience operating an industrial machine in a manufacturing, chemical, or production environment 
  • Must successfully pass Carpenter Co.'s Forklift Certification process
