Scope of Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of personnel and production on the shop floor. This position implements Lean principles in their area; provides support and oversees the work performed by the Lead Associates; and maintains the physical plant within the assigned area.

This position is responsible for the supervisor of 10+ union workers.

This position reports to the Director, Operations. This role is onsite and is based in Blauvelt, NY.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review daily visual production boards to maintain efficient production performance; provides prioritized production scheduling to all Lead Associates and team members.
  • Responsible for the implementation of Lean principles in their area to include elements of takt-time, balanced flow process, visual factory, empowered team meetings, total safety, standardized work and world class 5S standards.
  • Supervise all work performed in their area; offer coaching/mentoring and/or corrective action when appropriate.
  • Develop and empower team members in the application of Lean tools to include facilitation, process mapping, spaghetti charting, and the identification and elimination of the 7 wastes.
  • Lead the effort in safety compliance, improvement and promoting awareness in accordance with company safety requirements and guidelines; drive 5S into the production line on a daily basis.
  • Help coordinate "Pull" signals and shop activities on a daily basis; promote 1 piece flow and response to daily customer demand; support Kanban Supermarkets where needed.
  • Support Kanban inventory replenishment in coordination with Planner/Buyers and Material Handlers.
  • Respond to line down issues and provide leadership to root cause analysis and corrective action plan execution.
  • Provide assistance to the Lead Associates and team members.
  • Keeps Facilities / Maintenance informed of any issue outside of normal with any of the production or production support equipment.
  • Conduct meetings with Lead Associates (if there are any in the Value Stream) as needed.
  • Participate in Kaizen events as needed. Review and update ECO's.
  • Help approve weekly attendance for temporary team members.
  • Ensure quality standards are met with all products. Administer AERCO policies and procedures. Additional projects as necessary.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Director, Operations or Company Management.
  • Assumes responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)
  • Travel Requirements: 5%

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Associates or Technical Degree.
  • Minimum 7+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including drug screen, and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline preferred.

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in the plant. You will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Blauvelt, NY location (Monday - Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Abilit to physically move around manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods.
  • Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.

The expected salary range for this position is $95,000 - $110,000 yearly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.
