Job description

The Sorting Associate is responsible for organizing, separating, and preparing clean linen products for production lines while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workspace. This role requires attention to detail, strict adherence to quality and safety procedures, and effective teamwork. Key Responsibilities & Job Duties ● Line Start-Up & Safety: ○ Perform a daily walk-through of the assigned sorting area to ensure walkways are completely free of trash and safety hazards before starting operations. ○ Report any leftover trash from previous shifts to supervisors immediately. ● Sling Cart Management: ○ Properly position clean sling carts on both sides of the production line to ensure seamless workflow. ○ Assist the team in changing out full sling carts efficiently at the conclusion of sorting for each hospital order. ● Linen Sorting & Quality Control: ○ Sort clean linen into the correct designated sling carts according to specific categories (e.g., separating pillowcases into one cart, flat sheets into another). ○ Keep all linen off the floor and away from the sorting line walkways to maintain plant cleanliness. ○ Ensure any item that touches the floor is immediately routed to the rewash station. ● Waste & Hazard Control: ○ Maintain a clean workstation by placing all trash items directly into the designated waste containers located underneath the sorting line. ○ Keep a sharp eye out for any biohazard items; if found, stop and notify a supervisor or manager immediately. Requirements & Qualifications ● Ability to follow step-by-step Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). ● Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy when separating different types of linen. ● Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and lift/move packages and carts. ● Good communication skills to partner with teammates and report issues to supervision.
