Job description

Production Line Worker – Northbrook, IL

Highland Baking Company is seeking energetic and dependable individuals to join our Northbrook team as full-time Production Line Workers. This position supports our commercial bakery operations by preparing dough for baking, handling trays and pans, inspecting products, and maintaining a clean and safe production area.

Available Shifts
  • Second Shift: 12:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

  • Third Shift: 8:00 p.m.–4:30 a.m.

  • Overtime and schedule flexibility may be required.

Attendance Bonus

Eligible employees may earn:

  • An additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

  • An additional $1.75 per hour for hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Attendance bonus eligibility is subject to company policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Place and organize dough on trays and pans for proper baking.

  • Load and unload trays and pans from conveyor systems.

  • Operate and monitor assigned production equipment.

  • Inspect products to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Set up and operate topping dispensers when required.

  • Clean, organize, and stack trays and pans for reuse.

  • Move stacked pans and materials using a manual pallet jack.

  • Assist with lifting and handling ingredient containers.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area.

  • Follow all GMP, HACCP, food-safety, quality, and workplace-safety requirements.

  • Report equipment, product-quality, and safety concerns to a supervisor.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Dependable, organized, and attentive to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to learn how to operate production equipment.

  • Previous manufacturing or food-production experience is preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and workplace-safety practices is preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8–12 hours.

  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, twist, squat, push, and pull.

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.

  • Ability to work around ovens, conveyor systems, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
