Position Title: Deli Clerk

Position Summary:

The Deli Clerk is responsible for preparing and displaying deli and bakery items, ensuring product quality, and providing exceptional customer service. This role involves operating various kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, scales, slicers, and fryers. The Deli Clerk will also assist customers with their purchases, maintain a clean work area, and follow all store safety and health regulations.

General Purpose:

To assist in the preparation, presentation, and sale of bakery and deli items while ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service. The Deli Clerk will help customers with their selections, run the register, and contribute to the overall success of the department.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Product Preparation & Display:
  • Prepare and display a variety of deli and bakery items, including baked goods, deli meats, cheeses, sandwiches, and pastries.
  • Operate mixers, ovens, fryers, slicers, and scales to prepare and portion products according to store specifications.
  • Ice pastries, decorate cakes, and fill display cases with fresh products.
  • Wrap, price, and label items accurately for customer purchase.
  • Customer Service:
  • Greet and assist customers with their deli and bakery selections, providing product recommendations and answering questions.
  • Operate the cash register to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering friendly, helpful service and resolving any issues or concerns.
  • Department Maintenance:
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all cleanliness and food safety guidelines.
  • Follow proper handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to ensure the safety and quality of deli and bakery products.
