Job description

  • SUMMARY: The Production Helper performs a multitude of tasks and duties throughout the production facility to produce quality masonry concrete products from raw materials stage to yard stage, following established policies and procedures.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude but are not limited to the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed:

    • Under the direction of the Plant Manager and/or Shop Foreman, assist the Cuber Operator, Raw Material
    • Handler, Finished Goods Material Handler, and Maintenance Technician in their daily duties.
    • Operate forklift.
    • Perform pallet repair.
    • Perform end of shift clean up.
    • Communicate production emergencies. Maintain work area in orderly and hazard free conditions.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

    Education, experience, and skills:

    • Requires a high school education, GED, or equivalent.
    • Must have mechanical aptitude and be familiar with the use of hand tools.
    • Strong knowledge of safety regulations is preferred.
    • Forklift experience is a plus but not required. Must be able to pass the OSHA fork truck certificationexamination and yard evaluation.
    • Ability to read, write, and possess shop math skills (understand simple engineering drawings, ability to usemeasurement devices, understand fractions/decimals, and perform simple math problems).
    • Know the parts and basic assembly of a mold. Know when faulty mold parts are affecting product quality.Understand concrete product sizes, shapes, and colors.
    • Ability to cooperate with others.
    • Exercise high levels of responsibility and task orientation. Understand and follow directions as required bysafety and job performance standards.
    • Must be able to multitask and work under close time frames and remain calm under stressful situations.

    Physical, mental, and environmental requirements:This is a high energy and mentally demanding position. Daily problem solving is needed using specifications and interpersonal skills. Must be able to distinguish colors, size and other elements concerning the Company's products and materials. Regular lifting of objects up to 100 pounds may be required along with regular standing, walking, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping of objects. Although most work is performed inside the production area, some outside work activities are also required which are subject to seasonal Midwest weather conditions (summer heat and winter cold). Carefully follow noise, dust, and other environmental safety procedures as required. The environment also includes varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at the plant.
