What to Expect

The Recycling Associate is part of a larger Workplace team responsible for making sure our Gigafactory customers (our Tesla employees) are happy at work. As a Workplace team, we ensure their facility needs are met so they can work to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

Our ideal Recycling Associate can work autonomously and in a team environment. A successful Recycling Associate candidate will be mindful of personal cleanliness while keeping Gigafactory Nevada organized and presentable. This position is physically active and requires the ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.

What You'll Do
  • Transporting recyclables, scrap and trash throughout the factory, sort and segregate materials to maximize value
  • Operating heavy equipment including cardboard balers, pallet jacks, foam densifiers and other recycling equipment
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, protect company assets and ensure your safety and the safety of all others
  • Adhere to quality expectations and standards, follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to Supervisor
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with your workplace team and all production teams Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors including those assigned to support cross functional teams
  • Exposure to various weather conditions. The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
What You'll Bring
  • One year or more prior recycling, construction, landscaping, shipping, warehouse, custodial or grounds maintenance experience preferred
  • Must be comfortable being trained to drive and operate heavy equipment for this specific role, previous heavy equipment operating experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills & adapt to new work environments including comfortable learning new technology
  • Computer skills are strongly preferred (use of Word, Excel & Outlook programs), punctuality and a professional, can-do attitude are a must
  • Open to schedule flexibility that will allow for a variety of shifts including weekends
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands:
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and repetitious duties, including stairs and standing for up to 12 hours/day over varied and uneven terrain and climbing on and off a forklift using a 3-point grasp and an 11'' step
  • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs. and climb a 10" step and back down
  • The ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
  • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install vehicle parts of varying size and weight overhead, accurately and in allotted timeframes
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
  • Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
  • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and manipulate tooling and mechanically fasten bolts within required cycle time, quickly and accurately during new hire training and maintaining ability throughout employment
  • Exposures to hazardous materials used in the painting process and ability to follow waste handling/disposal procedures
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, hearing protection, full-face respirators, gloves, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
