Job description

The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for packaging finished diet products according to customer specifications while maintaining the highest standards of quality, accuracy, safety, and compliance. This role operates packaging equipment, completes required documentation, and supports efficient production processes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Starting at $22.50 per hour: Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Key Accountabilities

  • Package finished diet products according to customer specifications and work instructions.
  • Label, fill, weigh, and seal bags accurately in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform specialized packaging activities for completed diet products.
  • Operate packaging scales, vacuum packaging equipment, and sealing equipment while adhering to quality and safety standards.
  • Perform vacuum packaging by placing filled and weighed bags into plastic pouches and operating evacuation and sealing equipment.
  • Pack sealed products into cardboard cases and accurately label cases with product number, lot number, and quantity according to customer requirements.
  • Complete and maintain packaging records and related documentation to support quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct product and packaging inspections to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Support continuous improvement and process enhancement initiatives.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of packaging and common work areas in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Work overtime, including evenings and weekends, as needed to meet business demands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Basic mathematical skills with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to accurately record and transfer information to production and quality documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferences

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, production, packaging, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience operating packaging, sealing, or production equipment.
  • Experience completing production records or quality documentation.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, including evenings and weekends, as business needs require.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods, including up to four consecutive hours.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and wrist movements throughout the workday.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, twist, and climb stairs or ladders.
  • Ability to lift, move, push, and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely in a production/manufacturing environment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
