Product Validation information

What is the difference between Product Validation vs Product Testing?

AspectProduct ValidationProduct Testing
PurposeEnsures the product meets user needs and requirementsIdentifies defects and verifies functionality
FocusCustomer requirements and usabilityTechnical performance and defect detection
TimingDuring validation phase, often before releaseThroughout development, especially before release
MethodsUser acceptance testing, field testingFunctional testing, regression testing

Product Validation focuses on confirming that the product fulfills user needs and requirements, ensuring it is fit for purpose. Product Testing, on the other hand, concentrates on identifying technical defects and verifying functionality. Both are essential but serve different stages and objectives in the product development lifecycle.

What is a product validation expert?

A product validation expert is a professional responsible for testing and verifying that a product meets quality, safety, and performance standards before release. They often use testing tools, quality assurance processes, and industry regulations to ensure the product functions as intended and satisfies customer requirements.

-Perform SMT and through-hole soldering, prototype assembly, and hardware modifications.
-Prepare technical documentation, including test reports, validation procedures, and operating instructions.
-Support product certification activities (UL, ETL, or equivalent) and product validation.
-Maintain laboratory equipment, test instruments, and component inventory while ensuring a safe and organized work environment.
-Work closely with the Hardware, R&D, and Validation teams to support products from development through industrialization.

-Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electronic laboratory equipment.
-Experience preparing technical documentation, test procedures, and validation reports.
-Comfortable working with three-phase electrical systems up to 600 VAC.
-Experience with power electronics, motor control, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), power converters, or inverters is considered a strong asset.
-Knowledge of LabVIEW or Python for test automation is an asset.
-Electrical License C (Journeyman Electrician) is considered an asset.
-Professional English is required; French is considered an asset.
We are looking for a hands-on professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, working in a collaborative environment and contributing directly to product success.
