Description
About Steves & Sons
Steves & Sons, Inc., a sixth-generation, family-owned door manufacturer with more than 160 years of craftsmanship and innovation, is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Quality Specialist to support quality performance at our Lebanon manufacturing facility.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly on the production floor, investigating quality concerns, analyzing results, and partnering with employees and supervisors to implement practical solutions.
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Quality Specialist will maintain a strong presence on the production floor and support daily quality assurance and quality-control activities. This position will conduct inspections and product testing, investigate defects and customer concerns, prepare quality reports, and assist with corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will be observant, analytical, organized, and comfortable communicating with production employees, supervisors, management, and other departments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a consistent presence on the manufacturing floor to monitor product and process quality.
  • Conduct routine inspections, measurements, and testing of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products.
  • Identify, document, and investigate product defects, process deviations, and other quality concerns.
  • Prepare clear and accurate quality reports, inspection records, testing results, and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze quality data to identify recurring defects, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead or support root-cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Whys and fishbone analysis.
  • Develop, document, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies and measurement-system evaluations.
  • Verify the proper use, calibration, and condition of gauges and other inspection equipment.
  • Assist with nonconforming material identification, documentation, containment, and disposition.
  • Partner with production employees and supervisors to address quality concerns and reduce defects.
  • Support customer-complaint investigations and help prepare timely, fact-based responses.
  • Assist with internal audits, process reviews, and quality-system documentation.
  • Help maintain work instructions, inspection procedures, quality standards, and control documents.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects designed to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.
  • Promote compliance with company safety requirements and quality standards.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical training in quality, manufacturing, engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • At least three years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing inspections, product testing, and defect investigation.
  • Experience preparing quality reports and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Familiarity with root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Experience with Gage R&R, measurement-system analysis, or statistical process control is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or an ISO 9000 quality-management environment is desired but not required.
  • Ability to read product specifications, drawings, measurements, and work instructions.
  • Experience using measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or similar equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production and leadership teams.
  • Must be comfortable spending most of the workday in an active manufacturing environment.

What We Offer
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Paid time off.
  • Year-end bonus opportunities.
  • Professional growth and development opportunities.
  • A collaborative environment with the opportunity to make a direct impact on product quality and manufacturing performance.

At Steves & Sons, we are committed to craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. If you are a hands-on quality professional who enjoys investigating problems, working closely with production teams, and implementing practical solutions, we invite you to apply.
