Job description

Summary: The Executive Director of Production and Distribution increases output and decreases costs through continuous improvement of production and distribution methods, workflow, training, MRP utilization, equipment performance, documentation and safety.

Ten years of manufacturing management and Distribution experience preferred.

Four year engineering degree from accredited school, preferably electrical engineering or mechanical engineering.

Master's degree in manufacturing, engineering management, or business administration strongly preferred, but not required.

Experience in automated surface mount assembly, solder reflow, In-circuit testing, automated functional testing, and automated material handling preferred.

Good analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills.

Sound judgment in prioritizing tasks, ability to work under pressure.

Strong people skills, ability to influence others through direct and indirect means, work well with others to meet company goals

Effective communicator, able to give presentations on manufacturing strategy and train hourly workers on lean manufacturing.

Computer literate, able to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MRP II software as needed.

Values driven, complies with company's core values, ethical in all situations.

Accept and benefit from constructive criticism.

Demonstrate exceptional attendance (98% minimum).

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides leadership to the organization that aligns with the company's business plan and strategic vision.

  2. Drive production and distribution results from both an operational and financial perspective working closely with the CFO and otherkey executives.

  3. Fully understands all manufacturing and distribution processes. Improves efficiency through the elimination of waste and propels growth of production output and distribution performance through significantly improved efficiency of equipment and personnel.

  4. Understands the role of capital equipment and tooling in meeting the company's goals. Makes recommendations for purchase, lease, modification, repair, and/or maintenance of equipment and tools in order to meet performance objectives.

  5. Analyzes manufacturing and distribution capabilities and process repeatability by creating effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external processes.

  6. Establishes, maintains and continually monitors manufacturing and distribution performance metrics.

  7. Ensures that manufacturing and distribution are capable of consistently meeting key performance goals by identifying opportunities for improvement.

  8. Works with leadership to implement techniques to improve production and distribution output. Shows measurable improvements through value stream mapping, analysis and improvement projects. Leads efforts to reduce scrap, repair, and rework while improving out of box quality. Works with technical team to assure statistical process control, testing, inspection, and mistake proofing (poke-yoke) are implemented appropriately. Maintains a clean and organized manufacturing facility. Works to improve safety, ergonomics and inventory accuracy.

  9. Educates the supervisory and hourly workforce on the company's manufacturing initiatives and provide the tools and training needed for them to succeed in achieving the company's goals.

  10. Motivate and encourage employees at all levels as one of the key leaders in the company including but not limited to staff, management level employees and other team members. Fosters a continuous improvement mindset in the workplace.

  11. Works with design engineering to ensure smooth launch of new products to the manufacturing floor. Provides design for manufacturability (DFM) input to engineering at an early stage in product design so that new products are quicker and easier to manufacture.

  12. Assists in development of documentation for all processes and procedures. Ensures that any changes to manufacturing processes are properly documented and that documentation is kept up to date. Maintains proper adherence to ISO, HAZMAT, and corporate standards at all times.

  13. Resolves manufacturing and distribution problems.

  14. Serves on Corporate Leadership Team. Upholds corporate mission and values, makes good business decisions, and leads by example. Observes and complies with company policies.

  15. Observes and adheres to DMP Data Classification Standards.
