Purpose of the Role

Sets and leads the strategic supply chain and procurement agenda across Major Programs, ensuring category, sourcing, supplier and partner strategies are aligned to program objectives, delivery schedules, cost, risk and execution requirements. Directs the development of an integrated Program Procurement and Supply Chain Strategy that secures market capacity, supplier performance, commercial value and execution readiness across the full program lifecycle. Provides senior procurement leadership and market insight to enable predictable program delivery outcomes while supporting collaboration with product, technology, manufacturing and specialist delivery teams where required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Makes independent decisions and recommendations in the course of managing multiple functional disciplines, one larger functional discipline, or a significant program. Decisions relate to long-range planning, procurement and supply chain strategy, category and sourcing strategy, strategic supplier and partner frameworks, commercial risk, project delivery readiness and execution support. Develops and oversees implementation of strategic supply chain programs and policies that may impact the region, location or large program; able to manage multiple complex programs through others and work frequently with location, regional and program leadership on significant matters influencing business results.
  • Operates with broad management authority, receiving minimal technical guidance and control. Limited only by general objectives and policies of the organization. Work is reviewed to ensure company direction meets company vision and mission.
  • Typically has direct as well as indirect reports. Makes decisions as to the selection, training, discipline and remuneration of staff. Assigns policy framework, long-term mission and vision across the program supply chain organization.
  • Effectively communicates and presents complex procurement strategies, sourcing recommendations, supplier and partner strategies, market capacity assessments, procurement risk positions and performance reports to senior management, program leadership, clients and strategic suppliers. Ability to persuade and influence others across functions, geographies and external partner organizations. Participative management style with a cooperative team approach.
  • Expert understanding of broader supply chain systems, processes and tools related to major project and program delivery. Able to teach and help others. May be involved in the development of new systems, processes, tools, procurement governance, supplier performance frameworks, market intelligence dashboards and lessons learned processes that improve program delivery outcomes.
Qualifications

University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Relevant experience with significant supervisory and/or management experience, including strategic procurement, supply chain management, project procurement and major project/program delivery.

Experience supporting capital projects or major programs through planning, execution, commissioning and closeout is strongly preferred.
