Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering provides strategic and technical leadership for software development teams building complex, high‑reliability communications and network products. This role is responsible for guiding engineering execution, scaling best‑in‑class development practices, enabling cross‑functional alignment, and driving product readiness from concept through delivery. The Senior Manager will manage multiple engineering teams, mentor technical leaders, and ensure the organization consistently meets quality, performance, and delivery expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop and communicate a clear technical vision aligned with company and product objectives.
  • Drive architecture, design, development, and integration of advanced software systems, platforms, and applications.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Systems, Hardware, and R&D organizations to define requirements, roadmaps, and release plans.
  • Provide expert guidance in modern software engineering methodologies, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud‑native development.
  • Team Leadership & People Management
    • Lead multiple software engineering teams, including managers, senior engineers, and cross‑disciplinary contributors.
    • Coach and mentor engineering managers and technical leads to elevate performance and technical depth.
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high‑accountability culture that encourages creativity, ownership, and continuous improvement.
    • Partner with People Operations on workforce planning, hiring, and development initiatives.
  • Execution & Delivery
    • Ensure engineering teams deliver on schedule, scope, quality, and performance expectations.
    • Drive rigorous testing, verification, and readiness processes for all releases.
    • Remove impediments, optimize workflows, and implement scalable development standards across teams.
    • Oversee software documentation, release notes, and compliance requirements.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Work with Customer Support, Systems Engineering, Field Engineering, and Sales Engineering to ensure customer needs and product requirements are met.
    • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
    • Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and professional services engagements as necessary.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Oversee engineering lab environments, tools, infrastructure, and development resources.
    • Establish metrics, dashboards, and governance processes that track productivity, code quality, velocity, and reliability.
    • Promote strong security, safety, and compliance practices across all development activities.
Qualifications
  • Proven expertise developing high‑availability, distributed, or systems‑level software products.
  • Experience with modern programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python, Java), cloud technologies, networking concepts, or satellite/communications systems.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface across engineering, leadership, and customer environments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with RF systems, satellite communications, or embedded software.
