What is a product manager software development?

Product Manager Software Development roles involve overseeing the strategy, development, and lifecycle of software products. These professionals act as a bridge between engineering, design, and business teams to ensure that software products meet customer needs and business goals. Their responsibilities include defining product vision, prioritizing features, gathering requirements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver successful software products. Product Managers in software development also analyze market trends, user feedback, and performance data to guide product decisions.

How does a product manager software development typically collaborate with engineering and design teams?

A Product Manager in Software Development works closely with engineering and design teams to translate product vision into actionable tasks. This involves regular meetings such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups to ensure alignment on priorities and timelines. Product Managers facilitate communication between stakeholders, clarify requirements, and help resolve roadblocks to keep projects on track. Effective collaboration is key to delivering high-quality software that meets user needs and business goals.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

The Manager, Cloud Services is responsible for setting strategic direction and providing senior leadership to a team of system integration consultants. • Championing and institutionalizing continuous improvement initiatives across tools, processes, and delivery models.
  • Reporting to senior and executive leadership with clear insights into performance, risks, and strategic opportunities.
  • Ensuring ongoing professional growth, engagement, and retention of top consulting talent.
  • Maintaining and evolving deep knowledge of current and future OpenText products and integration platforms.
  • Guiding the team in adopting emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, and developing strategies to integrate them effectively into existing processes.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Proven senior leadership capabilities, including developing leaders, communicating vision, and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build rapport and credibility quickly at all levels.
  • Excellent judgment with strong Systems Integration and Technical / Business acumen, and the ability to assess people, processes, and platforms at scale. Hands-on experience with integration platforms, data translation software, and industry communication protocols and data formats (e.g., IBM Sterling, HTTP, SFTP, Web Services, REST APIs, XML, EDI, X12, IDoc, flat files).
