Job description

Position Summary

TECO-Westinghouse Motor Company is seeking an experienced Product Manager – Electric Motors to own the full lifecycle of the company's electric motor product portfolio, from strategic vision through execution.

This position will drive market development initiatives, identify product opportunities and gaps, establish product roadmap priorities, and help determine investment priorities based on market opportunities, customer requirements, competitive positioning, and profitability.

The Product Manager will work closely with Engineering, Research & Development, Marketing, Sales, Factory Operations, Supply Chain, Service, and customers to ensure products meet evolving customer needs and remain competitive in the global marketplace.

The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, market insight, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to deliver innovative, competitive, and profitable electric motor solutions.

Key ResponsibilitiesMarket Development & Strategy
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow market share in existing electric motor segments and expand into new applications.
  • Identify emerging market trends, technologies, and customer requirements to shape product roadmap priorities.
  • Identify new market opportunities and applications for electric motor products.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align market development strategies with overall business objectives.
Product & Portfolio Management
  • Define and manage the electric motor product roadmap based on market opportunities, competitive positioning, customer requirements, and profitability targets.
  • Evaluate the existing product portfolio and identify product gaps and opportunities.
  • Make recommendations for new product development and investment in product enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Research & Development and Engineering to ensure product specifications meet performance, cost, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor product performance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Prioritize product initiatives and investments based on business and market needs.
Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence
  • Conduct market research, segmentation, and market sizing to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, customer needs, and market dynamics.
  • Benchmark competitor products, pricing, features, and market positioning.
  • Use competitive intelligence to refine product positioning and value propositions.
  • Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and overall market performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Translate market and customer insights into actionable product strategies.
Value Proposition & Marketing
  • Develop clear and compelling value propositions for each product line.
  • Oversee the development of marketing collateral, sales tools, and technical documentation.
  • Partner with Sales teams to develop go-to-market strategies.
  • Develop product launch plans and promotional campaigns.
  • Support Sales with product positioning, market information, and technical expertise.
  • Ensure product messaging effectively communicates customer value and competitive differentiation.
Technical Leadership & Support
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for electric motor technology and applications.
  • Provide technical guidance to Sales and Application Engineering teams.
  • Support proposal reviews and customer presentations.
  • Help translate technical product capabilities into customer-focused solutions and value propositions.
  • Ensure products comply with applicable industry standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and other technical teams to resolve product-related issues and opportunities.
Team Leadership
  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of product specialists, engineers, and marketers.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish project priorities and allocate resources to support strategic objectives.
  • Manage project priorities and timelines to ensure successful execution.
  • Provide direction and support to cross-functional teams throughout product development and launch activities.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in product management, marketing, or technical leadership within electric motors or related industries.
  • Experience with industrial motors or electrical/mechanical products preferred.
  • Proven track record in market development, product strategy, and team leadership.
  • Experience working with CRM systems.
