Job description

Product Development Engineer

We are seeking a motivated individual with a growth mindset and strong sense of ownership for an exciting Product Development Engineer role. The qualified candidate will join a high-caliber team developing the next generation of mask inspection platforms. The candidate will act as a technical lead, coordinating across multiple engineering functions, including mechanical, electron optics, electrical, software, and systems engineering teams, to meet technical, schedule, and budget requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong and diverse technical background, with experience taking projects from requirements definition through first article testing and handoff to production or manufacturing teams.

This role involves requirements development, system design, and testing of sophisticated inspection systems by applying expertise across multiple engineering disciplines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. A strong work ethic, bias for action, and attention to detail are essential for success in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define subsystem architectures, develop requirement specifications, and create test plans.

  • Coordinate project activities by aligning with stakeholders and performing system-level engineering tasks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and review designs.

  • Participate in prototype integration and testing of assemblies and systems. Develop and execute test plans while performing analysis to validate system performance.

  • Establish workflows and train stakeholders on processes and best practices.

  • Create and document calibration, manufacturing, and service procedures.

  • Troubleshoot system and subsystem issues, partnering with engineering teams to identify and implement solutions.

  • Support internal and external customers in implementing processes that enable effective system deployment and optimize performance.

  • Lead or support troubleshooting efforts in manufacturing and field environments.

  • Travel up to 25% (domestic and international).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and experience with digital signal processing and imaging systems (e-beam or optical).

  • Experience with particle beam physics, electron optics, SEM technology, or related instrumentation is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills involving electron optics, precision mechanical systems, image processing, and motion control.

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and/or MATLAB for image and signal processing, including building functional executables, is a plus.

  • Strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and computational methods.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, quickly learn new technical domains, and respond effectively to internal and field escalations.

  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams while demonstrating leadership and a strong work ethic.
