Job description

Position Overview
Provide operational support to maximize production while maintaining safety standards. Key responsibilities include unloading and loading jars, assembling boxes, and visually inspecting products to ensure the quality of candles.
Position Hours: Monday-Friday, 3:00pm -11:30pm
Hourly pay rate: $15.00 plus $1.00 shift differential for working 2nd shift
Essential Job Functions (Include, but not limited to):
  1. Comply with all workplace standards and safety procedures, including Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements (OSHA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Company Policies and Guidelines.
  2. Follow equipment operating parameters to maximize production, while meeting all product specifications.
  3. Equipment that may be used during general labor activities include, but are not limited to:
    • Scissors - for trimming wicks and undoing pallet wrapping
    • Box Cutters - for undoing pallet wrapping and opening boxes
    • Hot Plates - for heating hot melt adhesive to manually glue wicks in jars
    • Wicking Machines - automatic and semi-automatic wicking machines that assist in placing and gluing wicks in jars
    • Heat Guns - for touching up minor aesthetic blemishes on candles
    • Labelers - for applying labels to the product
    • Taper - for applying box tape to the packed-out corrugated cases
  4. Perform general labor activities such as gluing wicks in jars, using scissors, and putting lids on vessels.
  5. Unload empty jars from pallets and load empty jars onto conveyor belts
  6. Assemble corrugated components and pack finished products into boxes.
  7. Stack finished cases onto pallets following the correct Ti-Hi pattern.
  8. Build displays and assortments in project areas.
  9. Visually inspect jars, candles, labels, and other items.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements - Education, Skills and Experiences
To successfully perform this job, an individual must satisfactorily complete each essential duty. This will be verified through practical testing administered by a member of management. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
  1. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Manufacturing experience in a high paced facility preferred.
  3. Basic computer skills required.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work safely in a production environment required.
  5. Demonstrated ability to read/interpret/follow instructions in regard to workplace documentation, such as SOP's, Operator Checklists, Work Instructions, etc.
  6. Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule and overtime as required, based on production demands.

Requirements - Physical & Environmental
  1. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Low Sensitivity to a highly fragranced work environment.
  3. Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. frequently. May be required to lift up to 35 lbs. occasionally.
  4. Position will require you to bend, sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, reach, reach above shoulders, utilize fine finger movements, handle objects requiring manual dexterity. May be required to stand, sit, or walk for long periods of time.
  5. Good finger dexterity for tasks such as gluing wicks into jars, using scissors, and placing lids on vessels.
  6. Position requires you to be around moving machinery.
  7. Position will include exposure to marked changes in temperature and/or humidity.
  8. Excellent color acuity.
