Job description

Job Title: Extract Plant Assistant Shift Supervisor
Department: Extract
Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Reports to: Extract Plant Shift Supervisor
Job Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Trade school or college desirable.
  2. Minimum one year related experience with demonstrated aptitude to learn on-the-job.
  3. Minimum of three months experience as an Extraction Operator and/or Extract Plant Assistant Supervisor.
  4. Pass training test developed by shift supervisors and management to determine employee's comprehension and understanding of operation of the entire extraction facility.
  5. Must be able to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with employees, supervisors and management.
  6. Proven written skills to accurately document and complete required paperwork.
  7. Strong PC skills - Microsoft Excel & Word and Outlook.
  8. Familiarity with plant equipment operations (chiller, boiler, pumps, PLC).
  9. Follow written and verbal instructions.

Job Summary:
Supervise staff, monitors, operates and maintains equipment and systems associated with the operation of the Extract Plant in a safe, reliable and efficient manner in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, SOPs, policies and procedure.
Job Duties:
  1. When filling in for Extract Plant Supervisor, must be capable of all supervisor responsibilities, including: operation all equipment, supervising employees and leading co-workers to maintain a safe and productive workplace.
  2. Control of extract plant using theautomated PLC system.
  3. Troubleshoot process upsets, equipment malfunction, and yield variances.
  4. Operate process equipment while following standard operating procedures.

  5. Monitor production to meet delivery and quality requirements.
  6. Solve problems and make decisions that will positively impact the manufacture of products.
  7. Responsible for signing off on all required paperwork to be completed during shift.
  8. Assist shift members in duties.
  9. Cover vacation and sick leave for off shifts (Extract Plant Shift supervisor & Extraction Operator) and assume duties of that position, including coverage on OT, weekend, and Holidays.
  10. Forklift operation.
  11. Housekeeping.
  12. Assist Packaging and Maintenance Teams as needed.
  13. Maintain sanitary and safe work environment and follow safety requirements.
  14. May actively participate on company's Safety Committee.
  15. Ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
  16. Must have a complete understanding of company's policies, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability.
  17. Must adhere to all company policies.
  18. Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
  19. Follow all SOPs in a given area.
  20. Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
