  • Assist the design team with active project work while gradually building the skills to contribute more independently.
    • Order product samples & finish samples
    • Request COMs & product quotes
    • Prepare color, materials and finish boards as needed
    • Research furniture for projects
    • Convert AutoCAD base drawings
    • Assist designers responding to RFP bids
    • Begin working on small projects with the design trainer to learn process, programs, client expectations, and project ownership.
    • Support additional project needs as opportunities arise, gaining exposure to different project types, timelines, and design team workflows.
  • Help maintain the design library, including organizing materials, finishes, product samples, and resources used by the design team.
  • Prepare furniture presentations and visual materials in Scout or other department tools as needed for project deliverables.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate design hour-records according to current department standards.
  • Participate in weekly design meetings and training events to learn from designers, share progress, and stay connected to team priorities.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
  • Present internship learnings and notable project work in a design meeting near the end of the internship.
  • Complete final review with manager to assess project completion and satisfaction with their learning experience.

Education and Experience

  • Interior Design degree in progress- Junior or Senior year preferred.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Self-motivated and demonstrate initiative, drive, and perseverance in achieving objectives.
  • Adept at using technological tools including Microsoft Office Suite and other systems and willingness to learn new systems and programs.
  • Detail oriented: Capable of organizing large amounts of information. Enjoys working with spreadsheets, specifications, and specific project details.
  • Teachable: Willing to learn and be guided by peers, mentors, and management.
  • Self-Starter: Actively seeks out ways to assist team without being told.
  • Team Player: Work well as a member of a group, understand your role, welcome collaboration, hold yourself accountable, accept feedback gracefully, maintain flexibility, uphold a positive attitude, and commit to the team.
