FACILITY: Tift Regional Medical Center
WORK TYPE: Full Time
SHIFT: Daytime
SUMMARY:
The MRI Supervisor is responsible for the daily coordination and oversight of operations within the MRI department. Reporting directly to the Director of Medical Imaging, the MRI Supervisor ensures efficient workflow, appropriate staffing, and effective communication across all departments. This role collaborates closely with radiologists to develop and maintain imaging protocols, while also ensuring technologists adhere to high standards of quality and produce diagnostic images suitable for interpretation. In addition to supervising staff and workflow, the MRI Supervisor plays a key role in equipment acquisition and oversees service records and preventative maintenance for MRI equipment. This individual assists in developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures in conjunction with the Director of Medical Imaging.The MRI Supervisor must demonstrate a high level of clinical competency, deliver exceptional patient care, and foster a collaborative team environment in a fast-paced medical setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Deliver high-quality patient care to a diverse population while ensuring all documentation complies with hospital and accrediting agency standards.
* Administer contrast media through appropriate routes for MRI procedures.
* Maintain a strong understanding of MRI safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and visitors in the MRI area.
* Ensure the quality of care provided by oneself and supervised staff meets professional standards.
* Complete all mandatory internal and external training to maintain clinical competency.
* Ensure MRI staff consistently adhere to established protocols and departmental policies.
* Operate MRI and related equipment efficiently and safely.
* Apply proper sequencing techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
* Accurately position patients for imaging procedures.
* Gather and correlate patient history and clinical information with imaging exams.
* Assess image quality and positioning for diagnostic accuracy.
* Demonstrate proficiency in using PACS for image management and review.
* Keeps abreast of pertinent federal, and state regulations and laws and Tift Regional Health System, Inc. ("TRHS") policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
* Understands and adheres to: TRHS' compliance standards as they appear in TRHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy; and HIPAA and TRHS policies regarding privacy and security of protected health information.
* Demonstrates the ability to perform tasks that meet the age-specific requirements of the persons, patients, vendors, and staff that the employee is charged to interact with as required by the position.
* Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
* Attends all mandatory education programs.
* Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
* Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
* Cross-trains in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in the department.
* Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
* Manages resources effectively.
* Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment and removes malfunctioning equipment out of service with timely reporting to the appropriate personnel.
* Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.
