Job description

About Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC)
Following 9/11, the community and civic planning process that resulted in the World Trade Center master plan in 2003 envisioned a new performing arts center as one of the anchors of the site. The Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) opened in the Fall of 2023. Within its three flexible and intimate performance spaces, PAC NYC produces and presents multiple projects in theatre, dance, music and chamber opera. Across each season, we seek to celebrate life and to affirm community in our location at the World Trade Center.
Our mission

Our art and our audiences reflect the dynamic energy of all five boroughs of New York City. We invite everyone to join us as we celebrate creative expression from around the world. PAC NYC is where the world trades ideas.
The role:
PAC NYC is seeking an Associate Producer to join its small Artistic team, which is responsible for delivering the organization's dynamic artistic season. The season includes large-scale theatrical runs, multi-disciplinary presentations, new commissions and PAC-produced works, curated festivals, public programs, and artist residencies, other special initiatives.
The Associate Producer will provide administrative, creative, and logistical support to the Director of Producing and Producers and, on occasion, will serve as the lead line producer for select programs and special projects. Working closely with the Producing team, as well as colleagues across the organization, the ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and an excellent communicator. They will bring a strong interest in contemporary performing arts and civic engagement, along with a deep commitment to hospitality, equity, and artist care.
Your key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate calendars, meetings, and communication between the Producing department and other PAC NYC departments.
  • Conduct research and prepare materials related to prospective productions, artists, partnerships, and special projects.
  • Support the planning and execution of developmental readings, workshops, rehearsals, residencies, and performances.
  • In concert with General Management, assist with budget tracking and other production-related financial administration.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Producing and Artistic teams, as assigned.
  • Attend and support production meetings, rehearsals, technical rehearsals, preview performances, and other project activities as needed; provide observations, updates and follow-up to the Director of Producing and Producers.
  • Line produce assigned programs, events, and special projects from planning through execution.
  • Partner with Producers to support artists and creative teams through the development of new work, from early readings through large-scale workshops and production.
  • Research potential artists and companies in the field and make recommendations to Artistic leadership regarding future programming.
  • Be part of building and strengthening equitable producing practices that uphold artistic integrity and are consistent with PAC NYC's mission.

What it takes to be successful in the role:
  • 3 - 4 years of producing experience, and a track record of working across performing arts genres/ disciplines, including theater, dance, opera and/or music.
  • A strong interest in nonprofit theater, producing, and artistic development.
  • The ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to plan, implement, and prioritize multiple projects while maintaining efficiency and close attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with union structures, budgeting, and production timelines is a plus.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while taking initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with experience working diplomatically with a diverse range of artists and collaborators.
  • A nimble, creative, and resourceful approach to problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate challenges, identify solutions, and communicate effectively across departments.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Airtable, and Asana, and the ability to learn new software and organizational systems.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support rehearsals, performances, events, and other production activities.

Compensation and benefits
Annual salary will range between $70,000 - $77,000 plus full benefits. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment and disability benefits, and self-insured dental, vision and health care and dependent day care flexible spending accounts.
