Job description

Green Valley Marketplace in Arnold is seeking a Produce Associate to join our Produce team! Come join our team!

Provide quality customer service within the Produce Department. Responsible for maintaining standards in accordance with the standard practices, maximizing sales through excellent customer service and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.
Essential Duties
  • Maintain a welcoming and positive atmosphere with a customer service focus contributing to a positive shopping experience
  • Courteous and helpful to other associates
  • Help customers navigate their way through the store
  • Assist with the customer orders by retrieving items from the relevant sections
  • Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with policies and guidelines
  • Unload trucks for the Produce Department
  • Maintain a complete understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies and standard practice
  • Understand and follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
  • Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents
  • Report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Green Valley Marketplace procedures to the Manager on Duty
  • Replenish stock and goods on display shelves
  • Safely and accurately restock displays
  • Rotate products and goods according to the company's instructions
  • Remove expired products from the display
  • Ensure displays are clean and neat
  • Work with other team members to ensure products are properly stocked on shelves
  • Follow Green Valley Marketplace uniform and dress code at all times
  • Support other team members as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience and Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • 0-2 years customer service experience, Grocery Store or Retail preferred
  • 1 year experience working in Produce department, preferred
  • Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions, must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Excellent customer service skills in order to work with a diverse population
  • Able to work a varied work schedule that changes, and a variety of shifts
  • Attention to detail and able to learn where store products are located to provide information to customers
Physical Requirements
  • Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Pull or push up to 75 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to physically engage in repetitive hand and arm movements reaching shelves of varying heights
  • Must be able to frequently move from a bent position to standing position to unpack boxes
  • Comfortable and able to safely stand and climb ladders in small places
  • Stand 100% of the time, frequently walking short distances
  • Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, fresh fruits, vegetables, house plants/flowers and household cleaners
  • Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level: occasionally above shoulder or below waist level
  • Meet established volume activity standards for the position
  • Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time
  • Ability to be trained to use equipment required to perform to essential duties such as hand trucks, electric jacks, hot plates
