Description
The Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that support the company's operational goals while maintaining cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery. This role oversees the day-to-day procurement functions, vendor relationships, and inventory management, and directly supervises Purchasing team members to ensure efficient and accurate purchasing practices.
Requirements
  • Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies to support production schedules and operational needs.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to the Purchasing team, including task oversight, performance management, and development.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure the best terms, pricing, and quality.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers; monitor supplier performance.
  • Analyze purchasing trends, costs, and vendor performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Work cross-functionally with departments such as Production, Engineering, and Finance to align purchasing strategies with company objectives.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse or production to optimize stock levels without over-purchasing.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
  • Manage procurement reporting, including metrics on cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory turns.
  • Resolve any procurement-related issues or delays with urgency and professionalism.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of procurement practices, supply chain processes, and vendor management.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make sound business decisions.
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel; ability to generate and interpret procurement reports.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of cost savings and supplier performance improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across departments and with external vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of contract terms and applicable compliance regulations.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements for procurement efficiency.
  • Comfortable with strategic planning as well as hands-on, day-to-day purchasing activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises the Purchasing team, including task delegation, training, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensures adherence to company purchasing policies and procedures within the purchasing function.
