Job description

Syndeo Staffing has a direct hire opportunity for a Procurement and Inventory Manager for a family-owned fertilizer company in El Dorado, KS. The Procurement & Inventory Manager, under the direction of the Vice President of Operations and is responsible for purchasing raw materials and inventory management, including forecasting inventory levels and coordinating with the packaging plant and customer service to optimize and ensure adequate raw materials inventory.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay: Salary / BOE

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Vice President of Plant Operations and customer service and utilize computer programs provided to ensure that raw materials are ordered and received in a timely manner
  • Track shipments as needed
  • Monitor current inventory, customer orders and seasonal sales history daily to make decisions on ordering raw materials
  • Troubleshoot quantity discrepancies with manufacturing and analyze information gathered in order to identify potential problems or discrepancies
  • Negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
  • Participate in yearly physical inventory
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

Education/Certification: Associate's / Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or supply chain management / will consider experience in lieu of.

Required Knowledge: Proven working experience as a Procurement & Inventory Manager, or similar role with a minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, including buying and negotiating contracts with suppliers.

Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel formulations and spreadsheets is a plus

Requirements of this Position:

  • Knowledge of inventory management, distribution, and operational processes.
  • Understanding of the processes in plant operations and the raw materials used in manufacturing
  • Understanding of supplier and raw material delivery times
  • Manages inventory tracking system to record deliveries, shipments and stock levels
  • Reconciles discrepancies in inventories and notifies supervisor of irregularities
  • Oversee the receiving, unpacking, and delivering of goods; re-stocking items as necessary
  • Develops business relationships with suppliers and clients
  • Proposes strategies to reduce costs and improve procedures of supply chain logistics
  • Monitors demand and analyzes data to anticipate future supply and logistical needs
  • Reports on inventory levels, supply chain progress, procedural efficiency and personnel issues to upper management
  • Excellent organizational and computer skills
  • Ability to make quick, accurate decisions
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and organize own work
