Daher's Sandpoint, Idaho site is a key U.S. aircraft manufacturing and support location specializing in the hand-built production of the Kodiak aircraft family. The facility supports final assembly, painting, inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities for the Kodiak 100 and Kodiak 900, serving commercial, multi-mission, and public service customers worldwide. In addition to manufacturing, the site provides comprehensive aircraft maintenance, technical support, and quality oversight, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and customer requirements, while continuing to expand production capabilities and reinforcing its role as a center of excellence for rugged, mission-ready turboprop aircraft within Daher's global network.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in Sandpoint, ID. This highly visible role is responsible for managing material demand requirements, supporting manufacturing and engineering operations, and ensuring the timely procurement of materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels. The Buyer will play a critical role in supporting Lean Manufacturing and Just-in-Time (JIT) initiatives by collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure production requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing procurement, MRP systems, supplier management, and inventory planning, along with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Primary Role and Responsibilities:
  • Manage demand requirements, forecasts, inventory planning, and supplier allocations to support production schedules.
  • Create, maintain, and manage purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of materials.
  • Expedite late orders, reschedule deliveries, and negotiate schedule changes based on production demand.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure material availability while balancing inventory levels.
  • Communicate material shortages, availability concerns, and escalation issues to appropriate departments.
  • Coordinate supplier meetings and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Inventory & Production Support
  • Utilize MRP systems for purchasing, planning, inventory management, and process improvements.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and JIT initiatives to optimize inventory and reduce waste.
  • Work within FAA regulatory requirements to ensure uninterrupted material flow while minimizing inventory assets.
  • Process non-conformances by collaborating with internal and external cross-functional teams.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, cost-reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Operations teams.
  • Establish strong working relationships to support efficient operating policies and procedures.
  • Provide accurate updates regarding procurement activities, supplier status, and inventory concerns.
  • Participate in process testing, documentation, implementation, and system enhancements.
Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure compliance with company quality systems and procurement procedures.
  • Maintain purchasing practices that align with established guidelines and business objectives.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and support operational excellence.

What you need to have:
  • 5-7 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong experience with MRP systems, including purchasing, planning, inventory management, and quality modules.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating supplier contracts, pricing, terms, and conditions.
  • Experience supporting production schedules in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • APICS, NAPM, CPSM, or related supply chain certifications preferred.
  • Experience working within aerospace, aviation, or FAA-regulated environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.

Information related to the position:
  • The compensation range is $60,000 to $65,000 base salary plus an annual target bonus.
  • The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Daher considers a number of factors when determining salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, skills, and current market conditions.
