Job Description

TeamBuilders is actively recruiting an experienced Procurement & Planning Manager to join a stable, growing manufacturer specializing in cold-chain packaging solutions in California's San Joaquin County.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a strategic supply chain professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys building efficient procurement, planning, and inventory processes that directly impact operational success.

As the Procurement & Planning Manager, you will lead the company's end-to-end procurement, materials management, inventory planning, and demand forecasting functions. You'll collaborate closely with production, sales, warehouse, finance, and executive leadership to ensure materials are available when needed while optimizing inventory investment, supplier performance, and overall supply chain efficiency.

This position is 100% onsite in San Joaquin County, California, serving the Stockton, Lodi, Modesto, Tracy, Lathrop and surrounding areas.

Compensation: Up to $130,000 annually, depending on experience, plus an excellent benefits package.

Key Responsibilities of the Procurement & Planning Manager Include:

  • Lead all procurement, purchasing, planning, inventory, and material management activities across manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies that balance production requirements, inventory levels, supplier performance, quality, and cost.
  • Ensure uninterrupted material flow by maintaining appropriate inventory levels and preventing shortages or excess inventory.
  • Manage supplier sourcing, qualification, contract negotiations, pricing, and vendor performance.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers while negotiating favorable pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Partner with Sales, Production, Warehouse, and Finance teams to develop accurate purchasing forecasts and production plans.
  • Analyze purchasing trends, inventory usage, forecasts, and demand planning data to improve operational performance.
  • Identify supply chain risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Evaluate supplier performance using KPIs and quality metrics while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, and supplier diversification opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor market conditions, commodity trends, and supplier availability to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure procurement activities remain aligned with production schedules, customer demand, and company objectives.
  • Validate pricing, purchase orders, invoices, and contract compliance while ensuring accurate budget tracking.
  • Oversee invoice verification and approval processes, confirming pricing and inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain purchasing, planning, inventory, and supply chain dashboards while reporting KPIs, OKRs, trends, and budget performance to leadership.
  • Champion continuous improvement through technology enhancements, process optimization, and best procurement practices.
Qualifications

Requirements of the Planning & Procurement Manager to Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive procurement, purchasing, sourcing, supply chain, or materials planning experience within:
    • Cold-chain Packaging
    • Food Production/Food Processing
    • Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)
    • Perishables
    • Or a closely related manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience managing purchasing analytics, forecasting, inventory planning, and demand planning.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing production schedules, inventory control, contracts, and financial reporting.
  • Experience negotiating supplier agreements, pricing, and long-term vendor partnerships.
  • Advanced ERP, MRP, CRM, and reporting system experience, including Power BI.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic business decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Working knowledge of raw materials purchasing, packaging procurement, and perishable inventory management.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects from planning through implementation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, and business software applications.
