Description
The Department of Student Center Operations is accepting applications for the Student Center Program Coordinator position.
Examples of Duties
Bowling Alley Operations & Facility Management
• Coordinate the daily operations, scheduling, and overall functionality of the JSU Bowling Alley.
• Assist the Student Center Operations Coordinator with the daily operation of the Jacob L. Reddix Building and other Student Center Operations-managed facilities.
• Review and process facility reservation requests, ensuring compliance with university policies and operational procedures.
• Monitor facility schedules to maximize space utilization and operational efficiency.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, campus departments, Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), and external clients utilizing the Bowling Alley.
Event Coordination & Program Support
• Coordinate the planning and execution of meetings, tournaments, conferences, special events, and recreational programming within the Bowling Alley.
• Oversee event logistics, including room layouts, equipment needs, setup, breakdown, and operational support.
• Provide on-site event management to ensure successful execution and exceptional
customer service.
• Collaborate with campus departments, student organizations, and community partners to
support student engagement initiatives.
Student Engagement & Programming
• Develop and implement recreational programming, tournaments, wellness initiatives, and student engagement activities.
• Assist with promotional efforts through campus outreach, marketing materials, and social media.
• Evaluate participation, customer feedback, and program outcomes to recommend operational and programming improvements.
Audio-Visual & Technical Support
• Coordinate the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of audio-visual equipment,
including microphones, projectors, speakers, screens, and presentation technology.
• Coordinate with appropriate technical support personnel for advanced equipment needs.
Vendor & Financial Support
• Assist with vendor coordination, service agreements, purchasing documentation, invoices, and event-related financial processes.
• Ensure compliance with university procurement policies and established operational procedures.
Facility Operations & Safety
• Monitor the Bowling Alley and assigned facilities for cleanliness, operational readiness, maintenance needs, and safety concerns.
• Submit and monitor work orders in collaboration with Facilities Management.
• Ensure all events and daily operations comply with university safety standards and risk management practices.
Administrative Responsibilities
• Utilize event management software (e.g., TripleSeat) to coordinate facility reservations and scheduling.
• Maintain accurate records related to reservations, programming, attendance, facility usage, and operational activities.
• Prepare reports, assessments, and recommendations to improve operational effectiveness
and student engagement.
• Communicate regularly with the Director, Assistant Director, and Student Center Operations Coordinator regarding operational priorities, facility usage, and event support.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of Student Center Operations.
Typical Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Business Administration, Recreation Administration, Hospitality Management, Event Management, or a closely
related field.
• Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in event coordination, facility operations, student programming, conference services, or customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse campus constituents.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office technology.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a college or university student center, student union, recreation facility, conference services, or student affairs environment.
• Experience using event management software such as TripleSeat, EMS, or similar reservation platforms.
• Experience operating and supporting audio-visual equipment and event technology.
• Experience coordinating vendors, contracts, purchasing, or financial processes.
• Experience supervising or mentoring student employees.
