Job Description:

PROCUREMENT INTERNSHIP - SUMMER 2027

Hy-Vee, Inc. is a progressive company focused on retail. To support retail we must continuously review our supply chain/purchasing practices to ensure we are operating as efficiently as possible while maintaining excellent customer service to our stores and ultimately our customers. We have an internship position available, located at the West Des Moines corporate office, to assist in the procurement department with buying analysis and program efficiencies. This Monday through Friday opportunity will be 40 hours per week. This internship is part of the Hy-Vee Supply Chain Internship program, which includes tours of Hy-Vee's facilities and organized networking opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research Vendor and Buying Efficiencies
  • Provide the Purchasing group with timely analytics and fact-based evaluations to make strategic, tactical decisions
  • Perform cost and performance analysis specific to purchasing operations
  • Collaborate with supply chain functions (demand planning, product supply, transportation) to optimize purchasing objectives (inventory levels, minimize out of stocks).
  • Report to work when scheduled and on time

The Successful Candidate will have:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and analytical thinking
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook
  • General computer skills including the ability to learn internal applications
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and report results
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with cross-functional teams comprised of members from all levels of the organization.

Minimum Education and Experience Required to Perform Job:

Qualifications include working toward or recently acquired, a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Economics, Statistics, Marketing, etc.
