Job description

This position is responsible for producing dispensing closures in a quality and cost efficient manner, troubleshooting process problems, and performing any necessary changes and all elements of quality productivity and safety on the team. Must be a leader with excellent communication skills. Functions: Ensures all molding automation equipment is running and maintains mold machines to standard. Communicate directly with Team Leader of previous shift to ensure all relevant information is processed. Reviews set-ups to ensure machines are running to standards. Ensures labor efficiency standards are met. Troubleshoot problems with the production process and notify appropriate individuals with the results in a timely manner. Determine root causes to problems arising from material, molding machine and/or operator training. Responsible for preparing work requests and communicating to appropriate departments to ensure proper repair and maintenance of molds, machines, process set up, mold and/or related ancillary equipment. Responsible for checking down-screen and lot size for upcoming changes and printing copies, which include non-runs, job status, and SPC screen. Start up machines as required with the appropriate mold color and material changes and mold repairs. Ensures mold color and material changes ensuring proper standards and specifications are met. Monitor all material and blend changes. Ensures that the responsible department for each down press is aware of it through written and oral communication. If problems are not repairable takes appropriate action to maintain production. Cavities are blocked and correct count is put in Mattec. Takes samples of product, inspects cycle and documents issues on Hourly Cycle Sheet. Monitor cycles for defects and material flow. Separate hot runner molds to remove any debris. Ensures the cleaning of tie bars, ways, conveyors, cappers, and giraffe is accomplished to keep product free of oil and grease. Responsible for the proper shutdown of all mold presses when they are to be down for any length of time such as a weekend or for a long mold repair. Analyze order status and expedite all priority jobs and finished goods on skids. Responsible for shutting off machines not being used over the weekend. Included in this responsibility is shutting off water, heat, pumps, water heaters etc. Maintains a well-organized and clean floor complying with all safety standards and regulations. Maintains a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear. Performs general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and trash removal. When work in primary classification is not available, may perform other duties according to skill and availability.
