Job description

System Administrator

Responsibilities

The Worker will perform services for the client's-CSD and will be expected to:

  • Perform highly advanced computer systems analysis and administration work
  • Provide operational enhancements, maintenance and support for a suite of software products, including, but not limited to: AIX/Unix/Windows based systems infrastructure applications; IBM HTTP Server, IBM Web Content Manager, IBM WebSphere Portal Server, IBM WebSphere Application Server, Adobe LiveCycle, Apache Ant, EMC Documentum WAS and Content File Store.
  • Provide secondary support for other suites of products, such as Tivoli Workload Scheduler, Fault Tolerant Agent, WebSphere Message Queue (MQ), WebSphere Process Server, and GoAnywhere tool.
  • Plan, train, or mentor the work of others.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

7 years of:

  • Experience in overseeing and performing daily system operations, monitoring and maintenance, verifying the integrity and availability of software, server resources, systems & key processes, reviewing system and application logs, verifying uptime and avail
  • Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions; conducts regular system audits to ensure accuracy of the various environments and applications; conducts regular account administration
  • Determines environment build out specifications; provides configuration requirements for hardware and software, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Provides installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software; develops and maintains reports, documentation for installation and configuration procedures; and contributes to and maintains system standards
  • Experience with applying patches, upgrades and configures system software that supports project or operational needs, and validation efforts. Configures and adds new services as needed
  • Maintains operational and configuration procedures; performs performance reporting to support capacity planning; performs performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization; and provides specifications for application CPU, memory, and disk p
  • Experience with overseeing and performing technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure, assists project teams with technical issues in the planning, development, and implementation phases
  • Defines needs, benefits, technical strategy, environment build-out efforts, high availability and failover design requirements and their configurations in support of executing, testing and rolling-out of the solutions
  • Researches and tracks life cycle support of various COTS products and conduct version compatibility research efforts
  • Experience with service incident requests and prioritizing support tasks; provides Tier III support and coordinates and communicates with impacted constituencies
  • Experience working in COTS application product implementation and administration, systems analysis, systems administration, data processing, information technology
  • Experience with applications on UNIX and/or Windows platforms
  • Experience in configuring, installing and supporting IBM COTS products
  • Experience with Active Directory, Tivoli Directory Server, or LDAP concepts and working experience in directories
  • Experience in FTP Management, and knowledge of core Internet and networking protocols, firewalls and other network security systems
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices
  • Skill in independently managing and completing concurrent complex projects within designated time frames with a high degree of accuracy
  • Skill in research methods and troubleshooting issues, data analysis and problem solving, and the ability to work with a technical and service-oriented team of professionals
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems using strong analytical techniques, innovative approaches, and taking initiative in preventing and solving problems.
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication.
  • Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making; handling multiple tasks, prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
