Job description

Belkin Burden Goldman, LLP, a premier New York City real estate law firm located in midtown Manhattan, seeks a dedicated In-House Process Server to serve legal court documents across the New York City boroughs. This solo role, integral to the legal team, requires an organized, independent individual capable of handling multiple cases simultaneously while supporting administrative staff. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with relevant laws and firm policies, facilitate court filings, and maintain detailed records in a dynamic legal environment focused on landlord-tenant matters.

Responsibilities

  • Serve legal documents per CPLR 735 and RPAPL 308 regulations
  • Prepare and file affidavits in NYC courts
  • Maintain accurate records of service and documentation
  • Travel frequently within New York City boroughs to execute service
  • Perform administrative duties including affidavit preparation and use of office equipment
  • Adhere to all firm policies and procedures
  • Serve documents during variable hours, including at least two nights per week
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys and staff across the firm
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously with strong time management and multitasking skills

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York City Process Server License in good standing and meeting all certification requirements.
  • Minimum three (3) years of legal process serving experience.
  • Knowledge of CPLR 735 and RPAPL service requirements.
  • Familiarity with New York City Housing Court filing procedures and affidavit preparation.
  • Familiarity with all five New York City boroughs.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to send and receive emails from a mobile device.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Landlord-tenant law experience.
  • Experience working directly for a law firm or legal department.
  • Valid driver's license strongly preferred.
  • Experience filing documents in New York courts.


Compensation & Benefits:


Compensation
Starting at $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, licensing, and other job-related factors.


Bonus Eligibility
Employees are eligible for consideration for a discretionary, prorated year-end bonus, based on start date, individual performance, and Firm performance.


Overtime Eligibility
This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime compensation.
