Position Overview:
Motiva is seeking Process Operators to join our Refinery and Chemicals facility in Port Arthur. The Process Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and conducting activities that pertain to unit operation and taking corrective action when necessary to ensure that all unit conditions and operations are in compliance with Motiva safety, environmental, and operating policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate process related systems within critical limits.
  • Implement Operating Procedures to ensure operational control and product quality.
  • Conduct visual inspection of piping and equipment in the area and take corrective action if deficiencies are found.
  • Monitor, adjust, and record process variables as required to ensure safe, reliable, and environmentally compliant operations.
  • Select, use, and maintain personal protective equipment.
  • Complete all compliance activities on time (i.e. mandatory training, hearing tests, respirator fit test, medical evaluations, etc.).
  • Ensure reliability centered maintenance is performed.
  • Secure or remove all equipment according to Inclement Weather Procedures.
  • Issue permits for all activities within the assigned process area in accordance with the Permit Procedure.
  • Control personnel entry into and around assigned operating area through the use of documentation and barricades as detailed in procedures.
  • Check all piping to ensure blinds and/or plugs are in place.
  • Document all pertinent shift activities in end-of-shift write-up.

Experience and Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in Process Technology
  • Successful completion of Motiva's Process Operator Intern Program
  • Valid driver's license

Physical Requirements:
  • Willing and able to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation
  • Willing and able to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation
  • Must be willing and able to climb and work at heights, walk on high elevation grating and to walk up and down stairs with or without accommodation
  • Motiva emphasizes safety in all phases of its business, therefore, with proper training, you must be willing and able to use safe lifting techniques to lift 50 pounds from the ground to waist level with or without accommodation
  • Must be willing and able to work in self-contained breathing apparatus

This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.

  • This role works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends
  • Must be willing and able to be on call and meet callout standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the requirement of a work visa
  • Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
