Located on the banks of the Mississippi river in southeastern Louisiana, Baton Rouge is the state capital with more than 800,000 residents (the second largest city in the state). Famous for its fusion of cultures, Southern hospitality, diverse cuisine and college football, it is also a significant port and a major industrial and petrochemical center.
Our Baton Rouge operations began in 1909 and have grown into an integrated complex that includes the Baton Rouge Refinery, the third largest refinery in the United States, the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant and several other plants and terminals. What role you will play in our team
  • ExxonMobil is currently seeking candidates to enter the Apprenticeship Program for Process Operations Technician to work at the Baton Rouge Complex, located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
  • Process Technicians will operate and monitor process equipment in a safe, reliable and environmentally sound manner.
  • Safely perform duties with strict adherence to procedures, use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and company policy.
  • Ownership of personal safety and safety of co-workers.
  • Work a rotating shift schedule in a team environment
  • Obtain unit qualification within specified time and maintain all post training requirements.
  • Conduct operator surveillance rounds, record data and catch unit product samples for field or laboratory analysis.
  • Operate and maintain unit equipment, open / close valves of various sizes, and prepare process equipment for maintenance.
  • Process equipment includes but is not limited to the following: pumps, compressors, furnaces, towers, reactors, exchangers, filters and associated piping.
  • Perform primary emergency response duties assigned per post requirements.

What you will do
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
You be enrolled in a 54 month Process Technician Apprenticeship Program. The requirements of this program have been vetted and outlined with the help of State and Federal resources.
This program will include all of the following:
  • Attend the Basic Operator Training (BOT, classroom and field training)
  • Train and qualify on initial and subsequent post assignments in a timely manner (expectations set by Business Team)
  • Meet continued education milestones (computer based training) throughout the 54 month apprenticeship.
  • Pay progressions through Apprenticeship Program based on successfully meeting the program requirements.
  • Participation in the Process Apprenticeship at the Baton Rouge Refinery/Chemical Plant allows Veterans to draw their GI Bill benefits while in the apprenticeship.
  • Safely perform duties, while under direct supervision of ExxonMobil employees, with strict adherence to procedures, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and company policy
  • Ownership of personal safety and safety of co-workers and community

About you
Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the ExxonMobil pre-employment test
  • Submit to and satisfactorily complete pre-employment background, medical, and drug screening
  • Must possess valid Drivers' license.
  • Able and willing to work shift work that includes nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime (may be forced to meet business needs)
  • Able and willing to work in inclement weather, climb structures, perform work at heights and in enclosed spaces.

  • Demonstrated relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing team member.
  • Ability to work independent of direct supervision.
  • Desire and ability to be a leader in personnel safety and teamwork dynamics.
