Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Lab Technician to support high-quality patient care through accurate testing, specimen handling, and laboratory operations. Position Summary:

The Laboratory Technician performs laboratory, phlebotomy, diagnostic support, and related administrative duties to support patient care, clinical operations, laboratory services, and regulatory compliance within the medical clinic environment. This position is responsible for specimen collection, laboratory testing support, patient documentation, reporting activities, inventory support, and coordination of laboratory related administrative and billing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood, urine, throat, and other laboratory specimens following established clinical and safety procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, specimen labeling, specimen processing, and specimen preparation activities.
  • Conduct waived laboratory testing and related clinical support procedures withinscopeof training and certification.
  • Accurately document patient information, laboratory results, orders, and related information within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Assist with laboratory coding, documentation review, and claim-related support activities to promote billing accuracy and proper reimbursement.
  • Support reconciliation of laboratory vendor invoices, laboratory orders, and related documentation toidentifydiscrepancies andassistwith operational accuracy.
  • Assist with grantrelated and regulatory reporting activities, including Ryan White, HIV, Hepatitis C, UDS, and other applicable reporting requirements.
  • Provide support related to eClinicalWorks (eCW) workflows, troubleshooting, and basic enduserassistancewithin the laboratory and clinical environment.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of staffregardinglaboratory procedures, workflows, specimen handling, and EHR related processes.
  • Monitor laboratory supplies, medications, and inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to appropriate staff.
  • Support front office and patient flow activities as needed, including scheduling assistance, patient intake support, patient collections, and customer service functions.
  • Assistproviders and nursing staff with point-of-care testing and laboratoryrelated clinical support activities.
  • Maintain laboratory logs, quality control documentation, temperature logs, and other required records.
  • Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, transport, and chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, bloodborne pathogen, and organizational safety standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, corrective action processes, and workflow improvement initiatives.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to patients, staff, providers, vendors, and external laboratories.
  • Maintain confidentialityregardingpatient, employee, and organizational information.
  • Travel between clinic locations as needed to support laboratory operations, training, and workflow support activities.
  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance isrequiredto support business operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GEDrequired.
  • Associate degree in healthcare, laboratory science, medical assisting, or related field preferred.
  • Previouslaboratory, phlebotomy, or clinical experience preferred.
  • Current certification as a Laboratory Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, or equivalent certification preferred, if applicable.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
