Copperweld is seeking a driven and technically skilled AI Process Engineer to support manufacturing optimization and AI-enabled operational improvement initiatives across our production facilities.

This position will play a critical role in leveraging machine data, AI tools, and process analytics to improve uptime, throughput, quality, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to implement practical AI-driven manufacturing solutions that deliver measurable business value.

WHAT we need you to do.

  • Lead AI-enabled manufacturing optimization initiatives across Copperweld production facilities.
  • Support and advance machine analytics initiatives including Pocket Watch, Oden, and related manufacturing intelligence projects.
  • Develop machine monitoring dashboards and automated operational alerts.
  • Analyze machine, downtime, scrap, and production data to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Support predictive maintenance initiatives through machine data analysis and failure pattern detection.
  • Assist in improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), throughput, uptime, and quality performance.
  • Develop automated troubleshooting and process guidance tools for manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to optimize machine settings, maintenance scheduling, and production performance.
  • Support IoT and manufacturing data collection initiatives across plant operations.
  • Assist in developing operational KPIs and standardized manufacturing analytics.
  • Travel between Copperweld manufacturing facilities as needed to support operational initiatives and project implementation.

WHAT you need to possess.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrial analytics, or related operational roles preferred.
  • Experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments required.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems, machine data, IoT technologies, and operational analytics preferred.
  • Proven success leveraging AI, machine data, automation, or advanced analytics to improve manufacturing performance, reliability, quality, or operational efficiency.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable operational improvements.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, or similar analytics/reporting tools preferred.
  • Knowledge of OEE, downtime analysis, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement principles preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  • Highly collaborative, action-oriented, and results-driven mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and production equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel between Copperweld manufacturing facilities as needed.
